Default Key buttons stopped working??

I have an 06 Tc.. I thought that the battery was dead at first, but the little red light still lit up. So I changed the battery just in case.. Still doesn't work.. Suggestions please.

Get it reprogrammed since you replaced the battery, it lost all of its memory.

Do they always lose the memory every time you would have to change it out? I dont want to pay to have it reprogrammed every time the dang battery goes dead...

you shouldn't have to reprogram it when you replace the battery. take it to the dealer and have them test to see if its sending out a signal. if its not, you might need a new remote or you can try to reprogram it.

I did take to the dealership and it does have a signal going out. The remote still had power before i changed the battery. It was just something that I had tried to see if it would make it work.

my wife is going through the same thing. remote still lights up when the button is pressed, but the locks dont do anything. it could be something else ive noticed, when the door is opened, the lights will come on, then go out as if the door was closed, but its still open.

i wouldve imagined that once the door was closed though, that the keyfob would work like it normally does, so not sure if it one has anything to do with the other

I am not sure I got tired of talking to dealerships. So i am having an alarm installed instead with keyless entry since the tc's do not have one to begin with. Good luck. Also my lights weren't flashing at all doors opened or closed. Like I said good luck.

I'd suggest trying your spare key as well, if that also doesn't work there's probably something wrong with the receiver in the car.

the keyless uses a rolling code... if you press the button a large amount of times while not around the car.. and defeat the buffer that it has.. then yes.. you need to reprogram the keyless entry again..

it has nothing to do with the battery. replacing the battery will not reset the keyless..

the reprogramming.. you can DO yourself.
use this procedure. it's the same for the tC
