Exclamation A Long Time Ago...

I use to post a LOT here, obviously cause I used to own a BCP 06 tC and tried to help the community as much as I could... but I think I failed in one thing. I posted Dyno results of a test I did in one of the Throttle Body Spacers. Yes, a Spacer. Now before we start flaming here, let explain why am I rewriting about the same thing. I posted that you can defenitly lose whp by using a TB spacer, and it's true. But it wasn't until I took the dust off the dyno files and started to see them that I noticed something... weird...

Here is the picture of the dyno:

Now, I know you can barely see the numbers, but the base runs where the first 2 runs at the top, and the last 3 are the ones with the TB spacer. We can see a big lose of 11whp in one of the runs, but check the torque ratings in the other ones... do you notice the difference? Well if anything I have some ideas why it happened but I'm still doubtful. I just felt like sharing after so long without posting something here in the forums. If anything you can read up a little bit more in my blog. I'm just started writing, but oh well. Let the bashing begin.

Interesting, but you're going to have to tell us what modifications you had.

If you go to his web blog site he posted he has some mods listed for the car..it's probably pretty safe to assume that's what he had on the car at the time.

I'm thinking that even if I think it's BS, that a TBS increases air volume, well it is the case. It might increase air volume going into the engine, but air velocity stays the same or slower, so you lose horsepower, but gain torque. Now, I do not have a degree in engineering but thats my idea.

Mods @ the time.

No Brand Intake
Alphawerks Header (No longer made)
Custom 2.5" Exhaust from the Header down with a 32" resonator and a Borla Exhaust
NST Underdrive Crank Pulley

For the type of racing that I like (autocross), which has really close curves and there is not much time to accelerate, you want torque to get you out of the apex faster. But for Drag Racing of something with longer straights, then you will have more trouble. We could be saying that a TBS shifts the whole powerband somewhere else.

those tourque readings are all over the place, that dyno must have been aweful. for a car to run on a dyno with the same exact mods and get 149hp and 168tq, then get 145hp and 193tq? somethings not right...

That's true, but at the same time all of the torque numbers are over stock

Is there a way that I can post my dyno files somewhere?
