Default Megan Header installed, I have some problems/question.

I put this header on my car yesterday, I was kind of shocked how they didn't include any bolts at all. The bolts on the brackets are connected to the stock header so you have to find & purchase your own bolts.

Also, when I bolted the megan header to the S-Pipe I noticed that it didn't seem completely air tight. Everything did line up, and the bolts did turn until they were very tight.

I had my friend go inside the car and rev it up a few times and I noticed that I felt a small ammount of air come out where the header connected to the s-pipe. I was wondering if this is normal or not?

Below 3,000 rpms the car seems to have a much different sound to it, above 3,000 I can't notice any of a difference because the K&N intake is so loud.

I really don't see any other possible way to connect the header to the s-pipe because the holes & bolts line up perfectly.

I did notice a performance gain (I can very easily chirp 3rd now), so I figured it was installed correctly.

PS, If anyone is wondering, I didn't get a CEL because I installed the spark plug anti-foulers.

Any advise would be great. Does everything I posted sound normal?

When you connected the headers to the S-pipe, did you re-use or buy a new exhaust pipe gasket?

To be honest, there was no instructions that came with the header.. and when I took off the stock header I didn't even notice a gasket between the s-pipe & header. Do you have any pictures of what you're talking about?

I'm guessing not having a gasket in between might be causing this problem. If I can't find or remove the stock gasket should I be able to find one at any autoparts store?

Sorry for all the beginner questions, I have never installed a header before.

yeah either the dealer or an autoparts store would have the gasket. I guess you are talking about the exhaust manifold to downpipe gasket.

The gasket is probably still on your stock headers. It looks like a mesh ring the size of a dount (and most likely rusted)

Hmmm... I may have missed the S-pipe gasket myself... there's a LOT of exhaust smell coming from the front of the car... the actual header gasket and header bolts are secured very tightly, and I didn't feel any leakage from there. I bet that gasket is still in fact on the stock headers ahhaahaha... I'm an idiot, but hey, Megan didn't include anything with their headers except for decals.... goody

buy some ramps for like, $15, makes stuff WAY easier! You can put the gasket on by just unbolting the header from the s pipe. Good luck!

Last time I used ramps I nearly took my buddy's foot off. It was my first time using them, and applied the gas to back off of the ramps to realign them, not thinking of course, and shot both ramps out from underneath the car and into the garage wall. They ejected with so much force that they got stuck in the drywall....

I think I'll stick with jacks for now

the one's I had here were too large, I was wondering the correct size also.

these are for the stock brackets that the Megan header hooks up to.. the bolts that are in there originally are perminately connected to the stock header.

Those bolts and brackets came off my factory header. It took a little muscle but they came loose.
It would probably be easier if you loosened them before you remove the header.

the brackets aren't connected to the header, the bolts are.

i don't see how it would be possible to remove those bolts without ruining the threads on it. the only thing you can grab onto is the threads.

Well, I just received the CEL after driving about 20-30 miles. I have the 2 spark plug anti-fouler's installed also. Is there anything else I can do to fix this problem?

I haven't tryed to disconnect the battery yet but I highly doubt that would help in the long run.

are you sure you put the anti foulers on the 2nd o2 sensor on the s pipe after the header?
