Mod help in Pittsburgh?
I installed the K&N CAI a couple of days ago. It sounds amazing without an exhaust. At part throttle, you can hear a loud whistle, and at full throttle it gives a throaty growl.
I havn't even gone one tank of gas yet, but so far, it looks as though I'm getting better mpg. I'll have to post my results after a couple of tanks.
As for hydrolock, I dont think it will be a problem. The intake would have to be subject to quite a bit of water and it seems fairly protected behind the fender wall, and the sucking power of the intake isn't really great enough to draw in that much water unless you go through a big ___ puddle...like 4-5 inches of water at a high rate of speed.
Also, K&N provides a "drycharger" which is a cover for the filter to repel water. you will give up a slight bit of performance, but for the added peace of mind, it might be worth it.
As for the install, It is very straight forward and I dont doubt that you would be able to do it yourself. It should only take a couple of hours at most. all you have to do is undo some bolts, unclip the air sensor, and then bolt on the intake and clip in the air sensor. The Instructions are exremely well drawn out and have a picture by picture guide.
anymore questions, just ask, we're here to help.

Thanks, dachmo- I decided to move this post to the Gen discussion area. Wasn't getting much in the way of response. Tried to delete it altogether, but couldn't. New thread is at https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...=854807#854807
