Default motor is in pieces, the sotry....

I got my head ported and polished, vlaves 1 mm over. I put in a set of dezod valves, gude performance did the port and polish, also put in a set of gude stage 3 cams, 420/410 lt (in) and a set of there retainers and valve springs, and dezod valve guides. Everything went pretty smooth untill the car started, the shop that put this in got the timing wrong and on start up the pistons came up and sheared off 4 exhaust valves in two cylinders. The shop is paying for most of the loss. So i'm not really too upset. I'm going to be putting in a new engine, this time with pistons/rods too. I'll take some pix of the damaged, its pretty crazy. any one got some suggustions???

might be selling stuff that is still good, cams, springs, retainers, bottom block, oil pan, etc....

pix up later today of the complete damage

Big bird, you can keep your riced out box and negative attitude in the your own topics. And Arnold, what's with this karbon crap? Because I used his pictures for examples I'm no this user? and tcleazy? You guys that bored with scionlife you need to start a fight where ever you go? If you have a problem with me PM me.

Now for what happened. This is all the mods I have done so far.

TRD supercharger, stock BOV and Pulley
Gude Performance Cams. 420/410 lift (similar to BC n/a s3 cams)
Gude Performance TB. Ported with new butterfly valve
Gude Performance duel wound springs and retainers
Gude Performance port and polished head
Dezod Valves
NST pulleys (s/c pulley stock)
OBX header and S-pipe
Megen mid pipe
TRD axle back
OBX TB spacer
Custom CIA with AEM filter.
Stock pistons and bottom end

The block is still good. I think I'm going to go with pistons and rods, I'm s/c'd and want to put in the 12 psi pulley so i think a lower compression will be better. Any ideas? The head is still good, needs to be repaired. and New valves put in. I might sell the supercharger for a TurboToyota's Kit. IDW yet. Here's the motor now....

It's hard to see the damage to the pistons from the pictures, the oil is making for a bad flash.

damn thats rough... i sure hope they are paying for all of that not just most of it...

also i don't think i would change the compression. stock is just fine for boost on our engines.

any time iv built an engine or installed a crate engine i always rotated the crank by hand first to check if pistons will hit the valves. just a safety measure just in case i had a brain fart and set the timing off, not to mention when you get a crate motor you don't know whoever assembled it did a good job or not. its a five second process that can save you hundreds of dollars if not a g or two. i dont know how the head will be able to be salvaged, it will be tough to get those bent valve stems out of ther without creating more damage, valve guides maybe bent which will be hard to remove aswell, i wonder how the geometry of the valve guides will be changed. I havnt had this happen to me so im only speculating. looked like a great porting job though if thats any consolation. good luck on the next engine

Dude being a mechanic that is completely crap they screwed up and they should be paying for all of it not most. And the timing isnt hard to get correct on our motors. I would be taking it somewere else and having that shop pay for it all.. And if i was you I wouldnt except anything but a full payment from them, thats why they have insurance to cover there F*ck ups...

well i figure now's the time to do bottom end work and have them pay for it. I like the s/c but it feels like there only so much you can get out of it. For you guys who are running turbo setups, what have you changed inside your engine? I might buy the sleaved block floating around on the classifieds but i here bad things about that one? Opinions?

if its the one that 318tc had, it should be good to go, i went down there when he was parting his car and got a few things and saw the motor all apart, everything looked like low miles and i know with him he doesn't cut corners, t1 did all the work and his new project is SICKKK!!!

Wiseco (sold by dezod and many others) has pistons in .5mm increments from stock 88.5 to 90.0mm - that should fit your needs? Also did they really not check timing and piston to valve clearance??? Shouldve clayed the pistons and checked timing 10x over before first start by hand rotating
