catback exhaust, header (you'll have rasp), pulleys

That's pretty much it, and even with all three of those you'll only squeeze out a few extra hp. Not much you can do to the tC aside from f/i to really see some gains.

TRD exhaust sounds good but no power gains from it.. Look into a catback at least.

Sounds like a bit more research needs to be done...
Anyways, the main point is, you won't break 200whp with bolt-on's, cept for maybe nitrous. Keep saving up for a turbo, like myself. I came to this realization AFTER I got I/H/E, so now I regret not saving up the $1000 I spent on getting those.

All those power upgrades, aren't going to give you a noticeable power gain. Maybe the first few days the butt dyno is going to feel a bit of it, but you'll soon realize you still have under 200whp.

nitrous doesn't kill your engine if it's done right... been there, done that... having to refill the bottle once a week was a pain in the rear for me... at least $30 per refill

Nitrous does not kill your engine anymore than the supercharger or turbocharger. It is another F/I way to go.

As always it is worth doing your reading beforehand. There are quite a few guys here that have gone with nitrous setups and not one of them has "killed" their engine.

Before you bother spending much money on small bolt ons that won't really do much for you... might I recommend: Rear sway bar.

After that...
- lightweight/underdrive pulley
- header
- full exhaust (will need a big resonator to calm the bees)
- um... that's kind of it.

If you spend much beyond that, you should have just bought a turbo anyway.

As stated above, i/h/e. The stock midpipe will cut down on the noise and rasp a little from the weight and cat (I'm guessing that's what keeps it down). Lightweight or underdrive pulleys will work, as well as a lightened flywheel. Nitrous is an option if done correctly. You could also get some engine management and a tune. It all depends on what your goals are. If you want a little bump in hp then n/a is the way to go. If you want to make tons of horse, go f/i.

Of course they have turbo's, superchargers and nitrous for auto's.

You can get 230+ whp running nitrous with a conservative 75 shot and a decent kit pretty much stock with no bolt-ons.

The bottle will cost between $30 and $45 to get filled so those costs add up. After you buy the kit and get about 70 refills you could have bought a turbo.

The turbo will require maintenance and other tunes and fuel management to get the most out of it.

New tires will be needed for both and this doesn't even begin to explain either nitrous or turbochargers.

TRD s/c can work on an automatic, just requires an additional fitting kit (or so I've read). Aftermarket turbo should be okay as long as your transmission can handle it. Go over to the forced induction forum for more information on that. Most of the f/i guys I've seen are manual transmissions, but there are a lot of examples of automatic tranny turbos across several platforms.

my friend had a turbo automatic. it can be done but you wont make much over 240hp or else the tranny starts to slip. i/h/e and pulley's are really all you can do to it before going f/i
