Default new 2.5L engine in 2006 TC

I have a 2.5L from a Rav4 laying around and I am wondering if I could use it in my manual 06 TC since i blew the engine. You guys think its a direct swap?

no such thing as a "direct swap" unless its the same chassis code

dont let all these guys tell you what can and cant be done, if u want to do it then get it done

itl will require a custom passenger motor mount or u can modify your stock one to fit the timing cover of the 2.5

you will need the 2.5 engine harness unless the 2.5 uses all the same sensors (would be lovely if u can use tc harness on it, kinda like we do for 1jz,2jz, 1.5jz swaps)

if u use a 2.5 harness you will need the 2.5 ecu and to modify your body harness plugs to fit the ecu and right pinouts

hopefully the trans fits the 2.5 im preatty sure with little to no modification it will and if it does then that cover the other 3 motor mounts

for the amount of money and frustration you'd put into a 2AR-FE @ 170hp, you could completely rebuild your engine with a turbo and get 300+hp

its your car, do w/e you want

I know all the 2.4 2az are the same except for the timing cover. I was hoping it works with the old harness and sensors.

I agree it wont be a direct swap. I'm sure its sensors, plugs, injectors etc are all different including ECU. You would have to use the wiring from the 2.5L and ECU. A lot would be involved with this swap. I'm not even sure the motor / transmission mounts would be anywhere close to the same either.

Of course anything you want to do can be done with the right amount of money.

they are pretty damn close.. and as far as sensors im pretty certain they use similar sensors... they are new and proven

Even so don't assume you can use 2.4L 05-06 tC sensors in it, they could have similar outsides but have different internal resistance or read differently (meaning the signal sent back to the ECU could be different).
