Default New Intake from K&N for the tC

I picked up a D Sport magazine at the grocery store yesterday and while flipping through it I saw a pic of a new intake system that K&N just released for the tC's. I believe it uses the factory air box, it looks pretty interesting. K&N claims a 7.58HP increase. Here is the link:

If you click on "Installation Instruction Sheet" you can see many more pictures.

Anyone plan on getting this? Reminds me of the GFI stage III kind of.

Not exactly new, it was announced a while ago. If it was CARB exempt I'd think about it, but if memory serves the MSRP was over $300. So I'll stick to my GFI for now...

Ahhh, ok. Well the mag said it was new and I didn't see anyone post about it. Someone should buy it and see if it is legit.

Just did some more reseach:

"The K&N High-Flow Intake System for the 2005-06 Scion TC
L4 2.4L (part no. 69-8608TFK), increases performance by
7.58 hp at 5022 rpm over the stock intake configuration. To
achieve a performance increase, the TC’s stock air filter,
intake tube and bottom half of the air box are scrapped and
replaced with a unique intake design that utilizes OE and K&N
components. The new design draws air through a trapezoid-shaped
K&N High-Flow Air Filter that increases airflow and filtering capacity and
never needs to be replaced. Reinforced by a Grivory cage, the air filter
attaches to the upper half of the TC’s stock air box, which remains in its
original position to house the OE mass airflow sensor (MAF) and hydrocarbon trap.
Protecting the air filter, MAF and hydrocarbon trap and isolating them from engine heat is a
powder coated steel heat shield. As it passes the filter, air travels through a metal intake tube
that is formed and shaped in the design phase to drive a more laminar flow of air to the TC’s engine. By utilizing OE
components, the 69-8608TFK is the first aftermarket intake system for the 2005-06 Scion TC to receive an Executive
Order from the California Air Resource Board, making it a 50-state legal intake system.
The 69-8608TFK can be easily installed in approximately one hour, is currently available where quality performance is
sold, is backed by the same K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty® as all K&N OE Replacement Air Filters and has an
MSRP of $436.38."

ya...this intake is just and intake thats legal for those who have crappy state laws (*cough* CALIFORNIA *cough*)....I am HIGHLY doubting it's going to yield better results than the other CAI's or even the SRI's....but if they can show a completely unbiased dyno sheet of 7.58hp..I will be thoroughly impressed
