New to scion and imports
As u can see in my sig I have a good amount of mechanical experience, but I'm clueless on this scion the I acquired through my fiancé getting a new car. My questions are what type of weakness does the car have like with my dodge it was the auto trans, and who's a good reputable company to do business with I just read the very long 56pg thread about ZPI from 05 Wow! I appreciate any input.
Thanks kyle
Thanks kyle
The only weaknesses are:
The ecu is not tuneable without a piggyback or full standalone
The auto trans can't take much abuse when boosted
The manual trans starts to have issues when above about 350wtq and wheel spin
The car cannot be made quick without forced induction
Great companies are ptuning.com , dezod.com and world racing/descendant

Welcome.
I've built my '06 tC into a successful auto crosser.
The tC has outstanding suspension.
Also, for a four banger, the tC motor has decent torque.
The only down side I've found is like somebody already said, Toyota's ECU is non-tunable, however, it is a learning ECU

welcome aboard. to start, these cars are great. the 2az platform is a great motor and good power can be made out of em. 1st off depending on how much power ur gonna make, id say ditch the auto trans and do a manual swap. second, imho dezod would be the way to go (not bashing the other companies as they have good products) but dezod is a joy to deal with and theyre very helpful and knowledgeable. there are some go to guys on this forum as well. alot have the experience as well as alot of trial and error. just stick to the basics with the tc. altho some things may be tempermental w the tc, theyre not that complex. u should be able to find just about nething u need on here and if ya cant find it, post a thread and most of us will be glad to help the best way we can.
Pearl you know I used to rag on dezod a lot and favor ptuning but now that I think bout it they both have a lot to bring to the table but dezod does linger around and help the forums with issues jokingly I say maybe he just doesn't have anything else to do all day but I know they are busy out there
Well im planning on putting a full exhaust and intake on to start with, but im not sure were to go after that will a set of 440cc injectors be too much or should i put some kind of engine management on first?
Injectors will do no good unless you are turbo or making over 220 hp the factory injectors flow more than enough fuel to feed any natural aspirated modification
And as I stated before auto trans is good for 250 after that you get shift problems some have had luck and run 300hp others not so lucky

With gas engines you want a perfect balance of air to fuel ratio and only when your takin in so much as is when more fuel is needed. With diesel the more fuel you put in the more air the engine will draw do you understand what I saying
@ border...i consider it staying involved within ur demographic.
as for adding 440 injectors, its pointless on a n/a tc. its not gonna make a difference whether u have some sort of management or not. the purpose of ppl using the 440's was due to the supercharger and the trd reflash. adding them without any "forced induction" mod would just be a waste of time and very very minimal gains. u cant feel the difference of 6hp (just for reference~not actual gain). i honestly would wait, save up some cashish and boost it!!! for the almost $1k ur gonna spend on a good intake, header and exhaust, u can either piece together a kit for s lil bit more or u can scrape up a decent kit in the ppc. thats my whole logic on this. i pieced my kit together for under $1500.00 and i made 300whp and 270tq on a stock block. and now i want more, so im building my block and re-doing my turbo setup.

not to mention that the factory ecu will only output so much fuel.
HX35 wouldnt be a bad idea if you were going for 500+, I actually considered one, but went with the 6262. To get any type of decent spool, you have to find one with a smaller exhaust housing
Oh and yes, for any kind of real power, swap to a 5spd. I blew my auto up within 3 months with 260whp.
