Default New Supercharger News

The release of the supercharger for early next month has been pushed back until TRD can find a company that can handle the production demand for the new ECM. Due to R&D, there was the chance that you could blow your engine and TRD redesigned the ECM but the company that had contracted to produce the supercharger could not handle the new demand so they are now searching for a new company.

Horsepower is the only specs known defintiely at the moment. 42HP will be produced by the supercharger but the available intercooler will boost that by 15-30. Without the new ECM, they could not determine the exact HP gain with the intercooler.

I will continue to gather info as I can and pass along to the ones that want it the most.........

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Demand is high so they'd rather produce none than some at a slower rate? I smell fish. There's got to be more to it than that.

First off, how do you know this??

Secondly, a reflash of the car's ECU is all that should be necessary...are you stating that some kind of module will be needed?

Neuro: Came from a friend that I have working high level in Scion. He did some fishing around for me and will be keeping me updated.

Suby: That is the information my source gave me. From what he is saying, a new module will be needed to keep the warranty intact. (not his words, my guess)

Mabus: 230 is only a slight chance. My guess is it will be more around 220 with the intercooler.

Hey Monarch, I smell an idiot. Why would I lie about something so stupid that affects no one and I have nothing to gain from it? If you dont want to know what i have to say, then don't read my posts. I understand you don't believe it but you don't have to start calling names.

tckurt: He did not specify if the 42 was flywheel or wheels, but I understand what you mean. The 220/230/200 with no intercooler is estimated with stock flywheel HP so is wrong either way.

He's kidding...

220 hp should = appx 180 to the wheels. A stock WRX has 227 hp and dynos around 185 to the wheels though there's more loss of hp with AWD...

I would be extremly happy with the hp to match the wrx. Especially since the warrenty would stay intact

holy god an intercooler? from TRD? STOCK? simply amazing, and if true, I am definately sold (not that I wasnt already)

If there is an optional intercooler it will be worth the wait.
How credible is this particular rumour?

also, did your guy have any indication about how long it would take to start producing the ECU's again to get the ball rolling?

He was not told how long but he is grinding for more info and I am the first to hear about it from him so you'll be next in line. Got his permission to post all info that he gives cuz he is not able to.

Davo: Intercooler WILL NOT be included in the price. Will be extra and the prices I am told (but this was his GUESS based on his info) is about 3K-3500 for the SC installed.......intercooler is about 600-1K but he is not sure if that is installed. Should not be much more than an aftermarket one is my guess.

Don't worry, my source is very confident that the info he is getting is extremely realiable.
