Default no muffler?

ok so here is my plan, i was going to cut a section of my stock mid pipe and replace it with a Y pipe. one end running to my stock muffler and the other end dumped. then I would plug the dumped section up to run the quiet stock muffler or then every once n awhile pull the plug out and run no muffler. So what I was wondering is will my tc run ok flowing thru a Y pipe that is sending exhaust thru both sections of the Y since i wont plug the stock muffler up, and will the car loose any power doing this? I am not looking to get any performance at all out of this I just want a very cheep and fast way to switch the exaust from quiet to loud

I am not asking for anyone to rag on me about this ? I just want an answer if this will work.

Why not just get a cutout. There are manual ones that require you to get under the car to remove a plate or there are electric ones that open with the flip of a switch but they are known to leak. I had a regular cutout on my Z28 Camaro that I would open up at the track and it worked well.

Heres a pic of one:

^^ exactly what you need. They have used them for years and years and work great. Talk to an exhaust shop and they should be able to set you up.
