Default non vvt-i cams

when i go turbo i want to install some non vvt-i cams. the nature of vvt-i is to overlap the valve openings, this idea is great for N/A engines, but can hurt a turbo in the long run. any ideas on any non vvt-i cams that can fit into the 2az-fe engine? or any companys that may be willing to make them?

or any input on my theory about vvti hurting turbo's?

I think you're confusing VVT-i with VVTL-i. The cams with a VVT-i system do not have a secondary high profile cam lobe. There is one lobe that the valve rockers follow throughout the entire RPM range. VVT-i makes adjustments to the cam phasing, thereby altering the cam timing to help engine performance an emissions throughout the RPM range. VVT-i is much like VTC on Honda’s. Therefore, you could not get a non-VVT-i cam, as the VVT-i system actuates the cams themselves. You could get a VVT-i controller such as the CamCon from Power Enterprise, if you were so inclined, that would allow you to make adjustments to cam phasing on 500 RPM increments. That way you would be better able to adjust valve overlap and optimize it for a turbo application. Keep in mind, VVT-i on the 2AZ works only on the intake ports.

Lol~ oh my... The tC isn't a Honda you know, but with the questions people are posting these days, it's sure to become one...

i kno that vvti isint vtec...vtec is valve lift. it causes no issues with turbo...it just is a cam with two profiles. i may have been mistaken in believing that vvti was actuated by the cams, and not the rocker. if that is so, how then do you remove the vvti effect? if i'm not mistaken it gradually overlaps the valve times allowing for a larger torque curve. but this overlapping causes problems, and can in the long run affect the life of the turbo becuz of the air leaking back into it. i will find a link about a car where they removed the vvti to help explain my point.
