Default Odd sound from engine bay, cause unknown please help.

I have a 2005 scion tc automatic and Ive had it for about a year and 6 months. Ive installed a cat back exhaust and body kit with an aluminum strut bar. I dont think its from the exhaust cause its noticeable more in the front. It seems to be coming from the center to the passanger side of the car. I dont know what it is, it sounds like a plastic part hiting something solid. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to provide a better explanation. Does it do it constantly, at certain times .etc?

sounds like something is hitting your strutbar. i forgot what exactly it is but i remember a post about it long ago. i believe someone used a zip-tie to pull this piece away from the strutbar. check it out.

well its noticable when ive been driving for a while. its constant. but i dont think its from the strut. i poped the hood and listened to the engine, but i cant make out where it is from atop the engine i can only hear it from inside the car, and not outside in front of the engine the wheel well for underneath the car.

thanks, I'll try that out and see if it works, but its only noticable after a certain amount of driving. But I will do just that, if it works i'll post my thanks, if not, then i will have to post for more possible solutions.

i hope its not something serious.

Thanks coletrein for the reply

same thing here.

when i am stopped, it ticks then goes away...then when i drive it goes away. its a come and go ticking noise. i can't seem to figure out what it is. ill try and see if coletrein's advice helps out any.

it seems like its coming from the left side of my engine bay from when i sit in my car.
i pop the hood and cannot find the noise. but like i stated above, the ticking starts when i am stopped.

can we get pictures of what this "evap purge" looks like and the "actuator?"

uhmmm.. i really dont hav a camera, but it's really easy to spot, wen u pop ur hood it'll be on the driver's side, rite by wer the air intake plumbing is, if u have a strut bar, it'll be rite underneath the strut bar, it's like a small lookin box, rite by we the evap service port, the evap service port has a green tag on it, i believe it says evap service port, and yea, it'll just be there, and putting a double sided tape on it will insulate the sound, i believe, so yea, lol!! sorry cant post pics up i dont hav a camera, well, i do but i need a memory card... lol!!

here is a picture of it and I took the strut bar out and the vibration is not noticable anymore but its still there, you have to know its there to hear it. I think cause of the strut bar, its been damaged or something, cause I can hear a faint sound of the vibration. So I guess maybe I will step up my projects and try to get an Injen intake to replace this intake as soon as I know its legal in Maine. Thanks for all the hrlp everyone.

no problem. I just have been wanting to change my intake for a while but I want to know my states laws on intake. wether they have to have some sort of carb legal sticker on it or something.
