Exclamation Oil Question..

Ok, so I have 70,xxx miles on my car its an 07 no engine mods, jus hks exhuast. I have been doing regular synthetic blend oil changes @ Good year shops but I went to another shop and told me I can buy my own oil and they would change my oil for 15.00 which is alot better than 55$ @ good year.. Point here is what oil would you guys recommend and I am looking for full synthetic since I put like 100 miles in 2 days. How often should I change my oil every 3k or 5k..at this point?? DONT SAY RESEARCH OR CRAP LIKE THAT just looking for opinions not an actual answer..thnx

I use Mobil 1 5w 20 and I change it every 3k. You don't necessarily have to change the synthetic at 3k but I do just because I always want to ensure that my motor is running as clean as possible. I have your basic bolt on upgrades I/H/E (Raceland).

Royal Purple 5w-20. Engine runs a lot smoother, idles very nice. A lot of the shaking is gone, and I think it gave me better mpg too. Very impressed with it so far.
How frequent? I'd change every 3-5k. Full synthetic you can run for longer without oil changes, but I do it every 3k or so for the same reason as the guy above. It IS more expensive oil, costs me $38 for 4 quarts, but it's worth it for my car to last longer and stay cleaner.

I currently went with regular oil and expect a 5k oil change. But with synthetic, you can hit twice as long and still be alright. I had the same regimen, mostly synthetic and sometimes regular petroleum-oil, with my Civic. When I opened the valve cover at 140K it looked very clean.

IMO, I'm a whole hearted believer in oil changes, but realize that 3k isn't really all that beneficial.

Pennzoil Platinum is the best synthetic for around 6 bux. Advanced auto is always having 5 bottles and a purolator or bosch filter (great filters by the way) for 30 bux!

Pennz Plat is a very good oil, most the crap that was spread about Pennzoil either wasnt true, or was based on things that happened with Pennzoil 30+ years ago. Read some of the oil analysis's on BITOG. Its good shizz

Im also an Amsoil fan, from most the UOA's Ive seen, Royal Purple is pretty much just marketing hype. Not saying its bad, just over-hyped and not worth the additional expense.

I usually do AMS OIL and k&n filter or mobil 1 filter, its a great combo with either, all the scions with decent hp that I kno of in MI run the same, ive almost went 4500 on one oil change and it was still clean enough to put in a honda lmao

This is my first time using the Ultra. They were out of the regular Platinum so I had to upgrade. My car is going to hit 100k in about 500 miles so I guess I'll keep using the Ultra from now on.

Dang! I just hit 50k a few weeks ago. A month after my 4 year mark. Longest i have ever had a car! Still got stock brakes and clutch. Though the clutch is defintely not what it used to be. Probably gonna get a new OEM like one since i will have it for at least 2 more years.
