Default only 80% throttle?

hmmmm i hooked up my auto X-ray today during lunch, and while i was driving i would punch it. i had it set to where it shows throttle position and it only went up to 80% every time. this isnt a cheap diagnostic tool. it reads your loead, your timing advance and retard, air intake temp. etc. so i know its correct. but why only 80%? when i hooke dit up to my integra when i had it, it read 100% same with my VAFC. sorry for the rant and rave. anyone with a SAFC, can you put it on the throttle position setting and verify this for me? thanks

Should be no big deal - some systems indicate differently than others - from the manual for my OBDII:

That info is completely bogus! In most cases your device was correct alot of cars don't open the throttle plate fully and usually e-manage, s-afc, or camcon will help it to open fully, which in return produces extra hp.

Interesting jj. Can anyone verify if the tC's throttle plate is opening fully or if there is power being kept from us?

I'm pretty sure it doesn't.

On most if not all cable throttle driven Toyotas of the past, the pedal was set so that it doesn't allow the driver 100% throttle opening. Toyota always bets safe.

We are drive by wire so it doesnt matter if it is not open all the way because we can not change it. Now if it can be changed that would be nice

That's because you have the piggy back system capable of doing that once its tuned properly, therefore producing more hp.

I've got AutoTAP diagnostic scanner w/ data logging capabilities and my throttle tops out at 80.1 % as well. I floor it and it always goes to 80.1% like clock work.

Keep in mind that this is just the feed-back from the TPS which is 0-5V. You do not need to be at 5V to be at WOT. I also the minimum throttle position is like 20% -So it might be the way the scanner is interpreting the data from the TPS.

5V does not mean 100% open throttle...

Thats the beauty of fly by wire. it can be changed with the right system.

Sounds normal to me. different systems mean different readings.

Eric you sound like a tech. I know on hondas (I'm a honda tech who is crazy about toyota) that all will read from 0-100. we had a corolla used car and we ran a diag. noticed that it normally read from 20-85.
