I dont think there the same if it has walker stamped on it like someone said, walker is dynomax. The borla is about the same price as the TRD and other exhaust picked mine up for $400, they both do sound differant then the other exhaust for the Tc's they are more deep then the others...but they dont sound the same..TRD is actually louder then the borla.

I am gonna have to agree with that statement. The OEM look for the tC exhaust is soooooo weak and both of those exhausts dont give nearly the best sound output nor the best numbers. Both are overpriced as well.

but to each their own. If you like the oem look and YOU like the sound and don't mind the lack in performance they both provide (not that an exhaust is the patch to life as far as performance anyways) then I would still recommend borla.

one thing to consider is the area you live/drive in. Sure the TRD may not carry #'s like some of the more performance oriented systems. BUT as it comes thru the dealer it can get you thru a warning/ticket if pulled over for "non-stock" mods. Sound preference is going to vary by each owner, we liked the idea of a mellow tone ( though after 40k on it there is more bark ), while keeping the "stock" aspect to battle the local authoroties ( who proudly advertise on billboards on the cruise strip that exhaust, etc can/will cost you $$ ). And for my wife & I, who grew up in a different era and not with a car with the preverbial "fart can" ( no offense to a real system ) hanging below the rear bumper; the last thing we wanted was to be heard before seen.
So if we lose a couple hp's to another system, my butt dyno won't tell the difference.
So get what you like, you gotta live with it every day.....

ANY exhaust installed on the tC from a legit company doesnt sound ricey. But once you add other mods (header) then ANY exhaust you get will sound ricey unless you get a resonator/s and/or a high flo cat

I would rather get the TRD exhaust..I heard it in person and its not too bad I like it plus it doesnt affect your warranty. Ark is probably the better choice in any situation.

i bought the borla exhaust just because i wanted something with an oem look, but with more of a growl. and i agree with some of these guys to a certain extent. yea, its relatively quiet (which is good in my opinion), but paired with the injen intake that i have, it definately gives off a deep growly tone under acceleration. the horsepower numbers might not be as high as some of the ones that have bigger piping, especially in turbo applications, but i dont mind loosing a few horses to get the sound that i prefer. personally, i love the exhaust. it really just depends on the preference of the owner. everybody will have their own opinion on ANY mod.

well i have the ark dt-s exhaust and it sounds so pretty...not too loud and but not that quiet. great noticeable sound. it also comes with a resonator so with my headers, very little rasp....cat back is the only way to go for exhaust, other wise your just waistin money to make it louder..but the ark dt-s is the best exhaust closest to the oem look (thats my opinion tho)...let me know if you want some pictures

I got a brand new one for sale! I got a used tanabe for a better price so I will let the borla go for a very reasonable price. I am in FLorida.
