No need to start another thread. The "paddle shifters" part of the discussion was over with. General consensus is "no" ... don't bother. Don't waste the time. Don't waste the money. Don't waste the thought. It's stupid. Really.

If you really want paddle shifters, buy a different car.

I locked the thread to save you from more flaming. But apparently you're ready for more... Fine. Go ahead. But get your flame suit ready. It definitely isn't over yet...

seriously, i think paddles shifters would be stupid, but i'm not gonna flame the kid for having his own ideas...isn't that the idea of the scion community...to make it your own...he wants to do something and he's looking for help from people that know things about that, and he's getting retarded answers and posts about him being a noob or he's stupid....

I say lay off the kid and let him think and learn about what he wants to do like what this forum is for...if you think it's stupid, than keep it to yourself...if you can help point him in the direction he needs to go to get this done, than help him....that's the idea of a forum...it's a community to help you with your car, not to make fun of your ideas...everybody is going to do different things to their cars, if you don't like them...don't make him feel less of a person for wanting to do something different...

anyway...it's going to cost a lot of money, no it's not going to be as much as a 2dr maserati or a ferrari....but it will still be a lot of money, i would just think of the cost to effectiveness ratio...you'd find your money better spent elsewhere....that's my 2 cents

step 1: Brain storm on paper
step 2: Decide on a design and start planning the manufacturing of the part including tolerances and how every cut and hole is going to be made
step 3: Build the assembly or have somebody build it for you from your plans

if you can not complete any of these steps or you don't know how to design the system yourself, it will be WAYYYY to expensive to pay somebody to invest the time to figure it out for you. At that point if you are still that set on paddle shifters...go pick up a VW gti.

dude, seriously, you can't just make a car have paddle shifters, it would take a seriously amount of cash to find parts, research installation and programming, and fitment and make sure it runs properly.

and to top it off, they aren't that fun anyway, i had a rental audi a3 2.0 t with a 6 speed s-tronic gear boxfor a week while my car was at the shop, and i fiddled around with the paddle shifters, but the car just drove alot better in D or S (sport mode) then me trying to use the paddle shifters. they were fun for a few minutes on the ride home, and then i never put it back into manual mode.

so chances are that even if you figure out how to do it, and pay all that money to have it done, you'll get over it before long and realize what a waste it all was.

if you want paddle shifters, trade your car in, but trying to retrofit it to an auto tC is very cost prohibitive. i know it could probably be done, i did see a 200X celica in florida with an automatic gear box and paddle shifters, but who knows how much he spent, oh, and it was for sale too, so my guess is the car drove like crap, or he spent so much doing it, he couldn't keep it.

oh, and the friggan paddle shifters don't make ferrari's and maserati's fun, usually the fun is coming from the v12 engines that is connected to that flappy paddle gear box
