Default PLEASE HELP MAGNAFLOW EXHAUST NEEDS WELDING?!

ok, my car is in the shop and they call me up and say they don';t have a flange for the exhaust by the cat. Can someone tell me, cuz i'm a n00b, is this exhaust supposed to require cuting and welding? because right now they have to do it and it' gonna be an extra 50 bucks and i thought this thing was a direct bolt on. Please help as soon as possible because i have to let them know within 20 minutes. Thanks

OK well, i tried lookin at the magnaflow PDF installation sheet and it does say you have to make a cut behind the cat. I presume this is what the shop was talking about? Well ok i guess, but why does magnflow advertise this as a bolt on, and they don't signify there's any cuttin involved?

Maybe they're trying to put it on wrong? Is it supposed to be bolt on? Are they missing a piece?

they said there is no flange for the magnaflow's exhaust by the cat. I guess there is no way to connect it. but look here http://www.magnaflow.com/07techtips/pdfs/16640.pdf
It does say tehre is cutting required right behind the cat. Maybe that is true because i see no other way they can get that pipe to fit onto the stock one since it keeps the old cat in tact.

I have the Magnaflow catback. You do not need to weld the midpipe. You simply cut the old midpipe as instructed behing the second catylitic convertor. You then clamp the new midpipe behind the convertor using the supplied exhaust clamps. The entire system is meant to be a bolt on kit WITHOUT any welding needed.

The magnaflow cat-back requires a cut, that's it. If you ordered it from CreativeCompacts like I did, they say so right in the product details. I'm sure magnaflow's site does as well.

yes sir... this is a cat back, so you will need to cut right after the CAT.

i thought it was a clamp that held it in place, but i guess the shop wants to weld it, so let them.. better for you

Yes a clamp holds it in place. You do not have to weld it.

Ok well i think the place that i ordered from didn't give me a clamp. I think i only got two, and those are used up somewhere else on the exhaust so they did have to weld it. It cost an extra 50 bucks though :/ oh well it sounds great though!!
