Default please help weird grinding noise!!!

i have a 06 tc supercharged and has 16,000 miles on it. i've already had the serpentine belt replaced at 11,000 miles.

i live in california and it was very very hot yesterday, 100degrees? the reason im saying all this info so i can give all you pros a better senario.

last night at 9pm after work i get in my car and start it. idle is great nothing wrong with the car. as soon as i give it throttle and the car starts moving (5mph) i hear a noise as if i took like a metal poll and dragged it on the concrete. i poll over and check under the car and there was absolutely nothing, not even a little branch. i get back in the car and slowly gas it to get it moving again. again i hear the same noise from somewhere in the front of the car. front wheels and forward. i popped the hood to see if anything might be in there and everything seems normal. i close the hood back up and my car is fine doesn't make the noise every again. checked this morning and it's fine.

anyone have an idea of what it might be? should i be worried?

thank you for all your help

So you said idle is normal....how about when you rev it while parked? And the grinding's only when you start to roll?

One area you can check is the brakes (esp. the front where you said the sound if coming from).

Better yet, have a friend slowly drive the car for you while you asses the source from outside. Just walk along your car as he rolls it forward.

Of course, metal-to-metal sound is not a safe one to hear. Def. have it checked right away or risk grinding something away...not safe
