Default Porting and Polishing

I know there's a lot of talk about this on the forum, but none in great detail. If I'm just missing the thread, send me there.

What exactly is involved in a port and polish? Is there any grinding to raise compression or are they just making it easier for fuel to go in and exhaust to come out?

Do you need new, oversized valves after a P&P?

Is it beneficial to put bigger injectors after a basic P&P?

How much should I expect to pay for just the machine work and how much if they have to pull off the head?

After a P&P, how much of a benefit is it to have some sort of fuel management? What gains should expect from this specifically?

Depending on how intensive the work is, what gains should I expect from the head work?

I've been trying to find some tc specific answers all over, but to no avail. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Great link. Thanks.

I'm still curious about what a "streetable" P&P job would entail. How beneficial would it be to grind the combustion surface to increase compression?

Are bigger injectors not really necessary on a Naturally aspirated engine?

never EVER mess with the CC. and streetable PnP would entain a gasket match on the intake and cleaning up the ports and polishin the exhast.

send me the head if you want. I'll hook you up with a PnP. I have all the stuff and i've been doing this stuff for a long time

you know this seems about the best thread to post this up on... so........... does anyone know a shop in and around DFW that will do a p&p for a decent price... or barring that.. is there anyone on this site that will do one for a decent price.. I am looking at a head out of a totalled TC and thought I would pick it up and have it worked on ... so that I always have my stocker...... so... yeah... any info would be appreciated...

FYI

I did see the link to the do it yourself site.. and I am thinking about that.. but I would rather have someone that knows what the F is going on walk me through it.. .
