the AW TB does nothing to help performance. like 1hp or something insignificant like that.

All the Alphawerks TB is, is a bored out stock TB, 60mm (hence the core exchange). Wait until companies come out with an actual oversized TB, say 62-65mm, that isn't made from a stock one, before you buy.

The issue with the throttle body is that it is drive by wire...what does this mean? That if the upgrade is done incorrectly the throttle may get stuck in wide-open because of the ECU and good luck hitting the brakes. It is really a race application and it added w/o ecu resetting ~2.3whp.

What would be involved in changing this type of throttle system, instead of drive-by-wire making it cable-driven. Jotech did that on there's and I was wondering how much or just how.

Hello,

On the Alphawerks Racing Development Throttle Body...

We have the throttle body and have tested it quite a bit. The worry we have still though is that we are dealing with a drive by wire unit, not a cable. The worry is that the ECU will read the air intake incorrectly and the TB will get stuck on WOT causing all kinds of problems. The TB's we have sold to date have been quite expensive ($500) because they were a very limited run and only for 100% race use, and all persons purchasing have signed disclaimers on the potential issue because it is drive by wire. We are about 90% on this one, but we are just worried about that 10% margin of possible error.

Just to give the FYI, if anyone is still interested in such an application let me know. The gains were ~3hp across the rpm band.

Best regards,

Victor D.
