Default Pre Catalyist is bad What are my options? New header?

I do still need to pass Emissions test next month, but is there a way a new header can work with a different O2 sensor where I can still pass? Im in Illinois.

Right now theres a crappy used OEM header (pre catalyst is attached to it) or I can pay $400 for a new one from the dealer.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

(my TC is an '05 with nearly 100k!)

I don't know anything about the smog laws in Illinois but the o2 sensor isn't what determines whether you pass emissions or not. The header removes a catalytic converter. It has nothing to do with the o2

Im in Chicago.

Im told that if I get a new aftermarket header (perhaps DC?) the o2 sensor will keep giving me a check engine light unless I do something to keep it from triggering.

Is there a fix for this so I can have the new header and pass emissions?

Thanks for the help guys!

This only works with DC headers? Would it work with a 4-2-1 header?

Hm looks like DC makes a 4-2-1 header too. As nice as the mmw weapon looks, I dont think I can afford that now. Is this DC ceramic header good?

dc does not make a 4-2-1 for the tC..the description isn't referring to the tC. Th e only 4-2-1 headers i know of are mmw and tsudo

The only other mod in my car is the TRD exhaust. Will it sound really bad with a new header and no resonator?

a 4-2-1 header won't sound to bad but a 4-1 is going to sound raspy as hell.

And again I have never heard of anyone running a 4-2-1 dc header unless they put one out recently. The pics shown on the site aren't even on a tC (which to me would be a redflag..)

lol good point. Google is turning up a lot of online retailers with this 'ceramic' DC header however.

Thanks for all the help!

I just called DC Sports Tech hotline and talked with them. They verified that they do make a 4-2-1 header, part number SHR4402
