Default Pre-made exhausts with resonator & hi-flow cat?

Good morning everyone

I've just recently started keeping up with the tC's aftermarket again, and have been installing a few new things. Sometime in the soonish future I want to install a catback, however since I also want to go with a header most likely, I want to make sure that I have a hi-flow cat and a resonator so I don't get a ton of rasp. I know a lot of people here have had good luck with having custom exhausts made, so that is definitely a route I will look into. Despite that, getting a pre-made one appeals to be more because it's something that my dad and I could install together (he's almost more excited than I am about installing car mods.)

The thing with a lot of the pre-made catbacks that I've seen is, that most don't come with a resonator and a hi-flow cat. I remember that the Draxas exhaust did, but unfortunately it seems that they are gone now. The only other one that I can think of that does for sure is the CreativeCompacts one (as an option.) Are there any other brands that do? The Dezod exhaust, perhaps? I've done some searching and I couldn't find anything else, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was something that I missed. It doesn't matter if it's a brand that's out now or yet, since it will probably be a little while before I can sneak another car mod past my wife anyways

Thanks!

The only one I can think of as of now is the Dezod street power exhaust:

I've heard/seen it in person and it seems like a well-made exhaust and it sounds good too. This car didn't have a header tho...

both the ARK N2(cannon style) and ARK DT-s(OEM look) have built in 18" resonators and are true catback systems. Here is a video of mine, which is the ARK N2, along with some pics of the install so you can see...

ALL of the name-brand bolt-on exhausts are overpriced and designed for looks and sound, and that means loud without a header. Now replace the most restrictive part of the tC exhaust - the exhaust manifold - with a header and you'll see, or rather you'll hear , you're going to have to do some custom exhaust work anyway. There's a ton of threads here from folks battling the inherent rasp/drone from header + aftermarket exhaust.

You could go totally custom, buy your muffler, cat, and resonator from a place like summitracing.com and have a local exhaust shop weld it up for you and save hundreds of $$ over a CC or Magnaflow bolt-on system.

I'm going custom myself and going to try something a little different from what I've read here on SL. But for now if you're intent on getting a ready-to-bolt-on header-back with a straight-through muffler, I would recommend precisionmuffler.com. They can weld in a cat, large resonator, and large Magnaflow muffler of your choice and deliver it at a reasonable price.

Hmm I didn't think PrecisionMuffler did cat-backs any longer? Are they just special order now? I'll have to look into that.

Although to be honest, I'm starting to lean towards just not bothering with a header and the negative issues that come with having one (rasp, worrying about CEL's, etc.) I may just get a nice cat-back that sounds good with the stock manifold, and put that header money towards a supercharger (wish me luck with that one lol.)

Yeah, F/I is better way to go if you want good power gains. You only get so much from N/A since no one makes a tuned I/H/E bolt-on system for our car -yet (here's hoping it will happen!)

Have you considered turbo? The S/C will only bring you up to about 184whp so most folks either add header & exhaust and/or buy S/C pulley, increase boost & re-tune on dyno for more power. By that time you've spent as much $$ as you would for ZPI Stage 0 turbo + tuning - not that that's the best turbo available, but you get my drift ...

Also, your exhaust needs simplify. The turbo makes a pretty good muffler itself, all you need is 2.5" downpipe and catback, should sound pretty good.

And turbo is the ultimate bolt-on - think your dad will like that!
