Problems with mmw/Weapon R header
I have had the head for about 7 months. I built the exhuast modding the cat back magnaflow. I added a high flow cat and 18" resenator..
My problem is, sometimes when i hit bumps, more or less when I hit bumps in mist of turning.. I have a nice clank noise.
Also when ever I spin wheels, I have a very nasty clank/banging noise.
I always thought it was my exhaust hitting, sence then I have gone back and forth messing with the exhuast making so not a peace of it could hit any part of the car in movment.
Then looking closer realize that the cel elemiatore is nearly right against i think what is the power rack and pinion? eaither way it is maybe a mm off of it and when the engine moves a bit it rubs on it.
Does anyone else have this problem? What can I or should I do?
Thanks for any help
I did search by the way, I didnt come up with anything with the same problem.

Hmm..thats odd..i don't have that problem with mine..your positive thats the cause?
Did you make sure everything is bolted down right and that the CEL eliminator is installed correctly?
and just to clairify - your using the weapon r s-pipe right? i know its a dumb question but i just wanna make sure
I dont' remember where my sits exactly but i don't recall it being that close to our rack and pinion

did you use the L shaped eliminator.....and if so it works best facing up to be out of the way of everything.
Also is your header the 1st gen Weapon R as it had fittment issues.2nd gen should fit perfect.

It is the second gen with the L shaped CEL. I ended up turnning it a bit and it has a little more room where I assum it was hitting, but the base of the L still is very close to the sub frame.
My only real thought if no one else is having a problem is, My exhaust is pulling the S-pipe downward a bit and causeing it to sit a little closer than normal.
Sence I have adjusted it I still have not driven it, will update tomorrow.

i have that header and when i first put it on i heard a "banging or bumping" noise from under the car. i took it to an exhaust shop and he said it was rubbing on the drive shaft and it had already worn a little away. you should get it checked out ASAP
The header/s-pipe is shorter than stock. It moved the rest of the system forward in my car and now the rear section bangs against the rear suspension...sigh...just too lazy to get new one or try to fix, maybe it will just break itsself in too?
Ok, so after driving to work today ( its only like a 5 mile drive) It noticed it is def rubbing. Its only bad/noticeable when the engine is trq-ing. I dont understand why it is now doing it. All I did was shorten up a rear pipe, that was hitting on sharper turns and making the tip stick to far out.
My only thought it, its now making the rest of the exhuast change is angle its sitting at and now is causing more stress on the s-pipe and moved it.
Tomorrow I am going to see if I can flex it any direction and maybe make a new hanger/brace for it
I am honestly on the edge of taking it all off and going back to stock. I dont have the time or patents and the G/f is getting mad I am always ____ing with it.

^I used ca,mper tape on the rear suspension to buffer the rubbing, its been on for over 3 months, it dosen't get hot enough back there to affect the tape, and has done a good job of quelling the noise so far!

Back when i installed my mmw header and s-pipe i had the same sound of rubbing when the engine trqed back and forth usally when exiting a right hand turn. I crawled underneith with a light and coul see that the s-pipe was rubbing the axle. Long story short, mmw sent me a new donut gasket and informed me not to tighten the bolts down so tight.
After i reinstalled the donut i could see the space between the pipe and the axle was more than double than before. I never herd the rubbing sound since. Call mmw and see if they will help u out i think the guys name is Chris W.

I tried adjusting my exhuast bak and forth and it still dosnt leave enough room and it continues to rattle. I figured the only thing that was making it not as bad, was my exhuast was putting pressure back on the s-pipe so it only hit when the engine trqed bad.
I dont know what else to do. I am about to pull it all off and trash it.

get us some pictures......clear ones........I know what mine looks like and if it does not look like it I can help you get it like mine......I ramp on mine and no noise at all so I know I am clearing.dont junk it yet......there is always a solution.
Try getting a new donut gasket from an auto parts store. Sounds like that might be the problem, they can smash down alot if you keep tighting the bolts down. Thats what i did to mine and i had the exact same problem.
