Sometimes you're moving at 2-3 mph after a bump, or right before one.

In these cases I'll usually try to get it into 1st because I hate having to slip the clutch extra, risk stalling on a bump, and hearing the deep growl of ultra-low (shouldn't be going there!) RPMs.

Dude, for the first time ever, my first gear ground today, but only for a split second! I couldn't believe it. I never force the gear either! what the hell was that all about?!

I didn't mean to sound like I was downshifting into 1st like a retard.
I live in a parking lot with alot of speed bumps and I don't want the rpms to dip too low and stall on me while I'm slowly going over them.

That whirling noise I hear is probably the synchro like someone mentioned.

This started since I got the car with 3 miles on it...I now have 900+ miles and the problem hasn't happened as often but it still bothers me.

I'll try the double clutching thing.

I'll tell you that compared to a RSX-S, TSX, and 350Z (cars I'm used to driving), the tC's shifter feels clunky and misshift prone under hard driving.
This is probably why the problem bothers me so much.

exactly - and its normal - no problems - Sometimes I try to put it into 1st and im going too quick so i put a VERY little bit of pressure on it till it easily goes into gear. There should never be an issue when you are trying to force it into gear. if reverse is a problem - put it into first then second ..then try reverse.

No one should be "babying" their cars during break-in

Well, there are differing schools of thought on what is the best way to break-in the car.

well... you definately shouldn't be ******* the ____ out of it... the break-in period is important on new cars... read your manual. and if you want details i'd be more than happy, as more seasoned ppl on the forum would be as well, to tell you why it's important to take it easy on your car for the first 1,000 miles or so.

I tend to grind the gears, but thats do to the fact that I sit far from the steering wheel and sometimes I dont get the peddle pushed down far enough.

Length of my arms, too close makes me feel really close to the steering wheel and uncomfortable.

The ideal seating position will give you about a 45 degree angle at you your elbows.

I have maybe ground the gears a total of 5 times since i bought it. Not something that happens everyday. BTW, how I sit I still have a 45 degree angle in my arms

Well, I don't know what to tell you then. I wish the tC had a telescoping steering column.

I said it felt misshift prone under hard driving; I didn't say I was driving it hard.
The shifter just doesn't feel as smooth as the cars I've mentioned...but those cars are also known for their smoothness.
I don't poop on my car either...I've read through the entire manual to help me understand the car.

I've been told that the ideal seating position is that when you sit back normally and extend your arms forward, your wrists should be resting on top of your steering wheel.

I cant do tha gangsta lean now

I wasn't accusing you of not knowing your car or treating it like crap, surprisingly enough though some people don't know you should break in a car...

I just thought of something funny too... people normally test drive a car... dog it out, then say, sweet I'll take it... And that's always the first 10 miles they drive it hard... Anyway, play with your seat a bit, you'll find the G-lean position eventually.

I was the first to test drive mine. Yay!

Yeah there's a new tC in my complex.
Looks like he bought it with the TRD exhaust.
He's been flooring it out of the parking lot since day one.
Poor guy.

I hate being on this site...I promised myself I wouldn't mod this car til after college =(
