Problems with smart sim? Resolved
The following points to note for your future reference and customers :
1. I had the INJEN 2004 tc SRI (refer to my engine bay pics) previously
when the AW headers was installed. The I.D. of the intake tube was 2.75".
I had the CEL popping up even with the o2 Sim fixed on.
2. I just installed the WEAPON-R 2004 tc SRI with AW headers + o2 Sim.
The I.D. of the intake tube is 2.5" approx. No CEL issue yet, even when
the car is idling or at the traffice lights with 93F - 97F outside
temperature.
I have just clocked 248 miles and NO sign of the dreaded CEL yet!
I will continue to monitor the situation and update you after clocking 400
miles on the car. If no CEL by 500 miles, I'm satisfied that it will
probably never come back.
Seems that the reason why INJEN throws a CEL is perhaps the the intake
tube is bigger and more air is being read by the MAF and it's sending the
signals feedback to the ECU and compared to the oxygen reading at the A/F
sensor at the 1st runner tube in the AW headers. When the readings don't
match up, the error code pops up as CEL. I had the P0171 code reading
previously (Bank#1 running too lean).
