Problems with the weapon R engine dampner
I just got one in today and installed it. I was very excited to get it in because of the great reviews its had. So im trying to put the bracket on that attaches to the motor mounts and on the bracket, the hole thats closest to the firewall, it seems like the bracket was not trimmed enough to be able to get the nut on and its so tight in there that a socket wrench would not be able to fit.
Now, no one here really knows, me. I like challenges and all and love working on my car and helping others with thier car. I like to build and fabricate stuff. I never post on here for help on how to intsall something because i like to figure it out myself and always do soo in a timely and safe manner. anyway with that out of the way, i ended up having too grind down the bracket a lil to be able to get a socket down there. This did not affect the strucural integrity of the product at all. So i get that part in...
Then, i do as the instuctions say and install one end of the dampner. Ok, well the bolt/nut they give ends up hitting the engine cover. well, at this point im almost about too take the thing out and return it because for a $170 part, and such a simple part, this thing should bolt right up. but im not a quitter so i try to find a better way of doing this, well i just attached the dampner on the other side of the bracket. But it is very close/touching the A/C hose bracket. I simply bent the bracket away a lil and it worked fine.
with that settled, i went to the next step and put the bracket on the strut tower. then the next step was to bolt on the other end of the dampner, but i couldnt because the holes were a 1/2" off. It says in the instructions that i am supposed to adjust the eyelets to the proper length but they were already as short as it will get. so, i managed to get it on but now its proping the engine foward that 1/2". I hope that is ok, not sure. Hopefully someone will let me know. Also it shows in the picture that the dampner is to be bolted down on the bottom side of the bracket. Well that doesnt work since the A/C hardlines are right there. So i had to put the dampner on the top side of the bracket and now it works fine.
So, i tourque everything down and finally go to take it on a test drive. WOW it really makes a big difference! waaay better response, especially now that i just installed the b&m short shifter.
However, it is very loud inside the car now. Its like i cut a huge hole in the firewall, loud. Im assuming that the vibration from the engine is being transfered too the strut tower and then making it louder inside the car. Plus, the thats where the noise sounds to be coming from. Well, its really annoying and im wondering if that is normal. im hoping there is a solution, so here i am asking for what others have done. mainly weather or not you are getting the same noise.
For $170 i do not think this product is worth it, but for $75 i think it is. for as bad as it fits, its rediculous. But i am happy with the results at the same time.
So the questions i have are, have others had problems with thier install? Will it cause problems by having the engine proped foward a 1/2"? and do you have the noise described above and if so, what have you done about it?
I thank you for reading this really long post

Even if everything went in with noe probs at all, i still think $170 is overpriced.
I promise there is a better engine torque dampner. Ingalls Eng. has The Stiffy this product went through 4 months of R&D and 2 re-designs. This thing fits dosent transfer shock loads like the Weapon-r. The design and research will amaze you. I have recived my pics back and will be posting asap.
PS: We are looking for someone who has a high amount of informative posts in the Tc power hungry forums to Trade the weapon-r dampner for a Ingalls eng Stiffy. This will be a UPGRADE for you and will cost you nothing but the shipment of your weapon-r dampner to Ingalls.
PM me if you have questions/ or want to do the torque dampner swap.

Ive been running the damper for a few months now and its gotten to the point where there is no more noise or rattles. Ive had to do a lot of adjustments and fiddling with it to get it right, but it is a great mod overall. I noticed the engine noise at first a lot, but after the bushings inside soften up a bit it gets much quieter. I cant exactly tell you what I did to make it quiet, but Ive taken it apart a few times and tried different shims to fine tune it.
I do agree about the brackets being a little less than ideal, and Ive never felt comfortable with the rod ends not being captured on both sides. I always wonder what those poor bolts are going through as Im slamming through the gears.

either way thats not the point of the thread.
