mine is touching the engine cover and yours isn't even close to it

(i took off the engine cover, so im not worried about the rubbing anymore)

Exactly, its mounted to the outside of the bracket so it doesnt touch the cover.

Im having almost the same trouble with mine. My brakcet that attaches to my strut tower has a 90 degree angle on the end where the damper attaches and it hits my a/c line horribly. I hope the weapon r guy can help
