Good day, I am here to ask if there are any fine tune adjustments that can or should be made to a TRD Short Shifter. I am asking because mine was installed 4 years ago by a friend and I, and it seems that there is a slight bump going into gears, its not as smooth as I am wanting. And I want butter smooth. I do have aftermarket tranny fluid.

Anyone did anything like this? or have tips. Maybe needs grease?

 

what tranny fluid are you using......

 

Amsoil. But my original complaint applies to before and after any fluid change.

 

you can try adding grease to the shifter but my guess is youve got a shotty trans. just like the rest of us!

 

Personally, Amsoil resulted in toyota replacing my trans. 3rd grear synchros grinded like crazy.

And I want make sure it doesn't sound like i'm exaggerating, I dont need to use force to get into gear, its just a very slight feeling that i am going into a gear. Im sure it is normal, I am just looking for a way to overcome this.
I am probly trying to fix something that there is no fix for. I guess for a $17,000 car your shifts can only be so smooth, lol.

 

im using eneos even though going into gears arent butter well close to it but from going from OEM to redline then to eneos big difference...but honestly i dont think we can get the tranny to shift as smooth as we want some say they did other say the tranny is crap what ever the case maybe i guess goota deal with it

 

Then deal with it I shall. Maybe one weekend I'll take a look by the shifter just to make sure everything is nice and tidy, with no dust or debris.
Still love the car like I just got it.

 

x2. put the grease on the ball joints inside your shifter cage... no matter what though, your gearbox wont be as smooth as butter...unless you own an S2000 or something of that sort

 

Motul Gear 300 has worked best for me. I like it because it doesn't thicken up too much in the cold.
