question about the tc clutch
i just got my tc 2 days ago, its my fist stick car, and i don't know anything about clutches but people that have driven my car say that the clutch is really stiff(hard) are all tc clutches like that or is there something wrong with my car? thanks.
^^ i agree...not stiff at all...engages/releases a lil sudden and its tricky to master..but fairly soft since its not a cable.
maybe just ask a few off manual drivers around before tryng to take it in..idk
goodluck

it's stiff compared to some VW cars.... and a couple of Saab's I have driven.... but super soft to some American cars. I would say the clutch engagement point varies from time to time.... and maybe a bit "grabby" for some beginners.
I was surprised by how soft the clutch was when I first drove it. Sill getting used to it. But I did have a 94 Celica that had the original clutch so maybe it just depends on what you are used to.
yea yea the clutch is very soft, the car i had b4 my tc had a really stiff clutch which felt like a work out to drive, but the tc takes some time to get used to, im sure ur clutch is fine, clutches just vary between cars
Tell them they are wussies. Stiff? Holy crap the clutch is soft IMHO. You want a really soft pedal? Try driving the Mazda3's. Holy crap I feel like I'm going to kick it into the floor.
The stiffest pedal (stock) I've ever driven was a late 90's M3. I was embarassed because I choked it twice... :p

well a good way to learn to drive this car is go somewhere where you'll be out of the way......put the car in 1st, and with no gas, let the clutch out really slowly....you'll feel the point where you're car starts to move without any gas.....that is your catch point.....if you can get more comfortable with this point, you'll be good to go when driving.....trust me, it takes a while before driving a manual becomes second nature.....i know some drivers raise the rpm to like 1200, and let the clutch in and give it more gas.....but i don't really do that.....but then again, i've been driving manual for a while....good luck and practice!! also, the tC has one of the softest clutches out there, especially since all newer cars are drive by wire....my 2007 z's stock clutch grabs like crazy, but still us medium weight.....try driving a stage 4 clutch and you'll feel what heavy and stiff really is!!!
