Default Question for those who know?

I am getting my Greddy E-Manage this week but I was wondering if I would have been better off with the Camcom vvti controller. What do you guys think?

I know that emanage is the way to go with turbo application but that vvti controller I wonder if it would have worked even better since it was designed for vvti.

Any answers to this post would be much appreciated.

The CamCon controls A/F ratios from 2500 - 9000 RPMs in increments of 500 RPMs with -20% to +10%. It also controls the VVT-i adjustments in the same manner except it goes from -20 degrees to +20 degrees. It interpolates all of the points in between in 500 RPM increments. That is all it can control and monitor, however, so you're limited to that functionality and that functionality alone. The Emanage cannot control the cam phasing adjustments, but has a lot of additional functionality such as data logging of various sensors, ignition timing, injector duty cycle adjustments, etc that can be controlled and monitored via a PC. The Emanage is a more fully featured system and allows for more precise control (it does adjustments in 100 RPM increments, iirc). However, for a N/A 2AZ with bolt-on's, I would venture to say that someone would be better off with the CamCon, since they wouldn’t likely need the added versatility of the Emanage but would get very good use out of the CamCon’s functions.

along with all Thrawn said, the Emanage is great because the majority of tuners can tune them.

I have yet to find someone in FL that can tune the CamCon

That's strange matty. Someone who knows how to tune the 2AZ w/ an Emanage should be able to tune it properly with a CamCon. Unless they cannot physically figure out how to use the unit, but the instructions are pretty clear and simple. Barring that, +5% to the fuel map at 3000RPMs on a CamCon should be same as +5% to the fuel map at 3000RPMs on an Emanage, or any other piggy back ECU (just done differently). If they know how to tune, they shouldn’t have a problem experimenting/adjusting the cam phasing and A/F ratio with any unit. If anything, I’d say the CamCon is pretty user friendly and intuitive. What do the shops tell you exactly?

they tell me they've never heard of the CamCon and their "tuner" isn't familiar with tuning VVTi. if you can hook a brother up with a contact in CFL/SFL that can tune it, I'd gladly partake. LOL

Oh, I see. That makes sense to me then. They don’t know how to tune the cam phasing appropriately, or they're not willing to experiment. I wish I knew of a tuner in that area that could do it for sure, Matty, but I don't. How about giving Rolling Car Customs a call, and asking them if they have any tuners they would recommend? Maybe they have some good contacts.

Would it then be possible to run both? Let the Camcon handle the cam phasing and the eManage handle the rest?

I'd imagine wiring the 2 would be a serious PITA. My guess is that they both have to tap into or split at least a few of the same wires from the harness. Namely the A/F, and 2 RPM signal wires, based on looking at the CamCon wiring diagram. I could see that possibly being an issue. I honestly dont know, though.
