Questions about my tC and Injen CAI
Ok, so I have been wondering about this for awhile now.. let me give you some background info on the car. I have a A/T 2007 tC, what I am looking for is if I do get a Cold Air Intake will it imporve my gas mileage by Daily Driving it?
I had a friend with a '05 Civic with a AEM intake and he told me that with the performance gains, you also got better gas mileage with a cold air intake. I was a little sceptical, so I came here to ask the question.
Also, I had looked in the CAI thread and found out that the INjen intake would be the best bang for my buck. I looked around and everyone is saying '05 - '06 kits, but no '07 kits. Would this matter? Would the Injen fit into my Auto Trans tC?
Any help would be appreciated.

i dont think cais actually make the gas mileage better.... i know i saw no difference. yes, it'll fit your auto trans, but you'll need to look for a 07-08 cai, since the MAF sensor that screws onto the top of the intake piping is a different size.
they can't. they suck in more colder denser air, so the engine can add more fuel, and make more power, not get better mpg. so no, no noticible mpg improvement, and certainly not one you would see from spending a couple hundred dollars in your lifetime.
yeah I think draxcaliber is right
It's my understanding that cold air uses more fuel which in turn is suppose to put out more power, and more fuel means less MPG. And warmer air means less fuel, which means decreased performance but better MPG.
I have the Injen CAI and i've noticed a drop in MPG, but I think its mainly b/c I like to rev it high to hear it growl. But its worth it.

buy an intake for the noise factor, not the performance factor...
though I haven't had a lengthy time to test it for overall MPG, I didn't really notice much of a gain in terms of hp.... what i did see however was a big change in how it sounds... and even with your auto trans, you WILL hear it... it's distinct, it's mean and it's pretty badass, lol.
Note that I've had my scion for over a year and about 6 months running on complete stock, so thats why the intake install was a welcome change in itself...
it's a domino effect tho as I am already starting to plan out what I'll be doing next...
was the $240 bucks worth it? so far heck yes, lol.

I carefully track my mileage and none of my mods - Injen CAI, exhaust, lowering springs, even when I had the header on for a while - affected my MPG one way or the other. What did improve significantly with the Injen + exhaust was throttle response, no more lagging ...
Btw any CAI with aluminum piping, including the Injen, will heat soak terribly. This will make your intake air temp soar at red lights and anytime you're stopped, meaning you're actually using less fuel when you start off again. (Steady driving will slowly allow the IAT to drop back down to ambient temp.) So the heat soak would counteract any "spirited driving".

^^Not unless u use heat wrap=D lol i like the sound when the RPM is going towards 4K RPM it sounds like its spooling haha, but mostly the intake will not give gains u feel a bit more torue but not much HP gains
I tracked my mileage the only time it will save is it ur never gonna gas it and drive like an old lady its nice to drive like that but u just gain 1-2 MPG but most likely will cancel out because u will tend to gas it to hear the sound the CAI makes
