Default quick tip for people with Aftermarket headers! important

for the people who have aftermarket headers including me should know about this.

apparently my A/C clutch (no ac) went bad because of too much heat from the engine bay. Mainly its because the all aftermarket headers do not provide a HEAT SHIELD like our stock ones as results SUPER HOT engine bay. guys who live in the hottest summer should be aware of this so i suggest you guys put thermo-wrapping over your headers or any other alternatives to reduce the heat from the engine bay.

i've once put thermo wrapping over my DC headers but i took them off because people on the internet complained its not safe for your headers and itll crack. well news flash for you guys, which would you rather break? a 300 dollar header or 2000 dollar AC system? ok

but please beware the consequences of these aftermarket products, i know i have.

Default Jet-Hot

Maybe Jet-Hot coat them? I've heard good things about that stuff, although I admit I have never priced or tried it. It seems that it would protect your high-dollar A/C as well as keeping your header looking nice, so it may be worth it. My 2cents.

I've been running my header on my car for over a year and frequently use my A/C. I have had no issues. Not to mention I have not heard of a single person having this problem.

I've always wrapped my headers on previous cars and over almost 10 years have never had one crack.

I thought DC headers came ceramic coated from the factory to insulate the heat...

While we are on the subject, how does everyone rate the DC header? I want to buy one tomorrow and I can get a really good price on one ($302 shipped), but all the people on the forums here keep telling me to get a MMW or Weapon-r or Tsudo or etc... etc....

So I need yall to rate the DC header for me, let me know your opinion of its performance

the high heat only sits at low speed or standing still, untill in motion. i grew up in 120's up to 132 temprature in the desert and never new anyone with such a problem. this maybe just a single problem. my rear lip did melt some from such heat with out even making contact with my exhaust. i got my dme header for $125 and saw it as low as $107 thru option racing a year ago.

the reason for the crack would be a drastic temp change, ie, water splash on headers after a hard run. thats the first i heard of AC clutch goin bad due to headers

yeah, seems like this is the first i've heard of this problem being caused by a header.

how did you arrive at the conclusion that it was the result of the header's increase in engine compartment heat that was to blame?

i have a jet hot coated weapon-r header, and a vented cf hood, so my engine is very well vented, but still, this makes me curious and i'll take a look at how this could happen...

i want proof of this "theory". Turbo manifolds produce WAY more heat then some little header setup. I live in alabama where there is plenty of heat and been boosted for 40k miles with no a/c problems
