Default Raspy Magnaflow?

I just got my Magnaflow Catback exhaust installed and it is soo raspy! I don't know why. The last owner added a resonator to it because he had the weapon r header. I'm not planning on doing that so I had the auto shop add a straight pipe like it's supposed to have. The way they added the straight pipe was by two smaller pipes that slide inside of one another to adjust the size. It is a little smaller than the Magnaflow and stock pipe because it goes inside of the stock end cut behind the cat and goes inside the Magnaflow exhaust when it is all connected. It is used from the past owner for around 9 months. Inside the car it sounds pretty good but once I had my brother drive and I heard it from the outside it was unbelievable. I watched all the Youtube videos to get the best sounding exhaust and it doesn't sound like them. Should I add the resonator to it even though I don't have headers but if I do that I heard it would make a weird flutter sound when I let off the gas. I could check to see if there are any air leaks. Should I get a slightly larger midpipe so it goes from stock width to magnaflow width. Also the pipe is shorter than it is supposed to be. It should be 3.5 inches behind the cat it's more like 5 or maybe 6. Any ideas why it is so raspy? Thanks

well your problem is that you took out the resonator which is supposed to cut down on the rasp. slap a resonator on and enjoy your improved exhaust sound.

But all the videos on youtube have the catback magnaflow exhaust with no resonator because it doesn't come with one. They have no rasp and sound awesome. this one has an invidia s pipe but would that reduce the rasp?

Weld a resonator on, Aero or Vibrant and call it a day.

A resonator would be the cheaper option and give you the sound you desire.

Adding the s-pipe, I have the invidia s-pipe, would increase air flow and it would not decrease your rasp.

Technically, w/o headers your exhaust should not sound raspy but if it does just add a resonator.

I installed the headers, magnaflow catback and invidia s-pipe on the same day. I did need to weld a resonator onto the setup later.

I already had an Injen CAI as well.

Quick and easy solution....+ resonator.

It shouldn't, that sounds like crap.

Get an Aero AR25 resonator FTW

part of what you are hearing in the video is poor sound quality, and part is the HKS.......they have that throaty gurgle to them when letting off gas after high throttle.

but es put in a Aero 25 or a 12-16" resonator before it and you will be fine.
