Reliability Of A Turbo TC??
I was wondering if anyone on here is running a turbo kit on a TC and if they are have they had any problems? I would like to turbo mine but it is my daily driver and I don't want any major problems with it. I just want to know reliability of a turbo kit on the TC. Thanks
Well I know very much about turbo and I am not looking to break any records I just want some power. I won't go boost crazy I am talking for daily driving running like 5-6 PSI and for track use maybe like 8-10 PSI. I just wondered how reliable any of the kits are that are out, because I used to have a 2002 Celica GT-S and the turbo kits for that car were all junk. I want very high quality and be backed by some type of warranty not just Joe's turbo shop turbo kit. Any help would be good.
the tC engine is pretty solid, and as long as you stay on top of your boost and your a/f ratios, it shouldnt be too much strain on the engine. i plan on running a turbo on my tC as well, but i have the automatic tranny, and im not boosting until i can find someone to make a high stall torque converter for the tC.
I'm pretty concerned about it...which is why I'll wait for the TRD s/c, and not void my warranty. Of course, by the time it comes out, my warranty will probably have expired time wise, lol

well, IMO, i would have it profesionally installed, and have the ECU programmed to run low boost, that way there is almost no room for fault, kinda like a turbo-charged jetta. They come from the factory turbo-charged and most people dont even have to worry about how much boost they are running, or what their A/F ratio is. So yea, i would def say get it professional installed, and just run low boost. Youll still feel the extra power.
I would rather do the install myself so I know how the work was performed and that way I know that nothing was left loose. But if you have no idea how to do it I would recommend a professional.
