REMOVING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT (passenger side axle) need info.
so over the weekend i was changing the clutch to a new one and as i attached the tranny back to the motor and filled it up with oil i had a major leak coming from the intermediate shaft ( passenger side axle) right where the axle is inserted into the tranny. i've had the luck of doing some installs not removing the passenger side shaft and not having issues... but of course it had to be my car to have the day the seal got damaged during the reinstall of the tranny.
I already knew it was the seal on that side of the transmission since oil was leaking ONLY from that area where the axle is inserted into the tranny.
My question is for those who have removed the passenger side axle (intermediate shaft). was it just the 2 bolts on the metal bracket, pop it out and boom you have access to the seal on the tranny or is there more to it... i only see 2 bolt on the shaft side of the bracket..
any info on taking it off would be the bomb here lol...on my old honda days it was more or less the same thing. just wanted to confirm.

Yes but it will not give enough clearance to get the seal out . You have to pull the axle out of the car. You have the one axle nut and the two nut and one bolt on the bottom of the control arm to take off. Also very important take the VSV sensor off so you dont brake the wires when your take the axle out . Hope that helps good luck.
yeah your best bet is to take the half shaft off...you can leave the axle in place just undo the to bolts that hold the half shaft to the block and then undo the control arm( i cant remember exactly what it is to allow the axle to swing out of the halfshaft coupling thing...there will be three bearings that are connected to the axle that go into the halfshaft. make sure all 3 are there when you connect back up....just pm me if you have any more questions. ive done clutch job and then a couple months later i had to swap trans
