restrictions and more restrictions....
i was just looking thru the manual.. thanks to a fellow member
.... i noticed that this car has alot of restriction in the intake track.... first there is a charcoal filter in the airbox after the regular airfilter.. (since i don't have my car yet i have not seen this or how restrictive it is)... then there is a airflow straightner after the throttlebody............. i know that in my grand prix there was a airflow straightener at the MAF and that was one of the first things you removed ...... but in this case you actually have to remove the throttle body to remove it.... as for the charcoal filter they say it is non removable... so i take it , it has to be cut out.........
no wonder these aftermarket intakes produce some good gains.. your removing a serious restriction....... yes i know there are other factors like smoother piping... but the removal of the restriction alone is probably were most of the gain is coming from..........

I really doubt the charcoal filter is any kind of restriction. I mean, it's much less restrictive than any kind of air filter, it's just a thin absorptive panel to keep gas fumes from escaping.
