Royal Purple Gear oil

Royal Purple Gear oil
I recently changed out my manual transmission fluid with Royal Purple of the recommended weight in the owners manual and now when the car is cold it doesn't shift was well in first and 2nd gear. I filed it up until fluid came out of the fill hole (~2 quarts I think) so there is plenty of fluid. Has anyone else experienced this?

Welcome to the world of synthetic trans fluid. I guess...
I swapped out for some Reline MT-90 last summer and noticed similar results. I mean, it's not really HARD to shift or anything... but there's a noticeable difference until it warms up.

I get the same thing, didn't know it was due to the synthetic trans fluid though.
I switched to synthetic before winter so I just figured this happens when the car is cold to everybody...

well it depends on the temps you are talking about for cold starting... there are a couple of options... Are synthetics better? well in the tranny... probably over time yes. but if the temp is low enough its going to like pulling a stick through the mud. Only other option is to just give the engine/trans enough time to warm up a bit then take off.

cold temps I am talking about are right around freezing, 32 deg F. But my car is garaged too so the temp in there prob is in the 40's I can check later when when I get home, I have a thermometer in there
