Default Secret Weapon Intake or K&N TYPHOON COLD AIR INTAKE

What is better AND why? I am leaning to the K&N just because it is a cold air intake and the SW will suck hot air from the motor and loose HP.

actualy bro the SW not only makes more HP than the K&N it costs less too, oh and by the way u will probably be able to add the cold air extension in the future for the SW

I went with the WR SW intake and couldn't be happier. I can really feel the car pull more in the higher rpm ranges and it sounds great with the TRD exhaust. I haven't felt any loss in the low end either. I also plan on adding the cold air kit once summer comes. You may want to consider where you live as a factor. I'm in WI and we get a lot snow and it doesn't get real hot in the summers. Short ram was for me because I drive on sloppy snowy roads all the time and didn't want my filter down to low. Heres a pic of the Weapon R SW Intake installed.

I live in Texas so the heat, not only from the engine compartment but the outside temp can get up to 105.

Uh what HP results you going off...and if you get the K&N it can be installed as a short ram allso. I get mine this week and well I will go with K&N mainly cause of name and the fact it is actualy cheaper if you look around (well was for me).

I have not gotten a CEL with the WR SW intake. When I installed it I reset the ECU (unhooked neg batt cable while installing) and then let the car idle for about 5 mins after the install. Then when first driving I took it easy on it for the first couple miles so the ECU could adjust to the new air flow. I believe Weapon R also changed the piping where the MAF sensor mounts from earlier models of this intake. I am yet to hear of a CEL with this new model of the intake. I'm also looking forward to a heatshield for it, don't believe it's out yet.

yes you could install the K&N as a short ram. and no CEL came on after I installed it. I didnt even disconnect the battery or reset the ECU.

but, you have to understand why the WR intake is better performance wise (although i'm not sure on that...haven't seen any proof). the filter isn't as good. so, if you wanna protect your engine and still get power gains...the k&n is the way to go. unless WR changed their filter that is. i know a few years ago they had filters almost as bad as blitz. anyways....they always look cool though

Secret Weapon should be cheaper than the other one cuz its got half the piping, but its the same price. Lame. Plus you have to get a K&N filter after that too for optimal performance, ouch. Im looking for maybe $150 shipped for a secret weapon intake.

Has anybody really tried using the K&N as a short ram. I would like to see some pics of that. Not tring to be a hater but it just doesn't look like there is enough clearance for the filter on the end of the pipe. I would just like to know if it really can work that way. The filter on weapon r sw also seems to be a real high quality (not like a cheap ___ ebay filter or anything), but you can't beat K&N for filters, I guess, I'm no pro. hehe
