in the long run is replacing your engine cuz its knocking worth the 20 cents per gallon now?
No no and no.

13gal x 26mpg = 338 miles | 13gal x $4 = $52
13gal x 28.5mpg = 370.5 miles | 13gal x $4.20 = $54.60
You're spending $2.60 more for 2.5mpg. Worth it?

also it runs smoother along with other benefits.
if every drop is worth that much to you then you should have gotten a Prius.

What? Okay, come on now. You're saying that I'm going to be replacing my engine because of knocking when I use 87, but it isn't knocking in the first place. As stated before, unless you're using some sort of forced induction, your engine will run perfectly fine on 87.

If you want to spend $2.60 more for all these negligible reasons, go right ahead. The topic of the thread is if there are any performance differences, and the answer is a resounding no.

You barely get 250 in city? you must have a pretty heavy right foot there buddy. City MPG is around 25mpg, that's times 12.5 (give or take .5) you get about 310. If your getting 250, your going to need a new engine or tranny soon. Sorry I'm not bashing you, but you seem like those bastard kids that weave through streets, and then guns it at the light as if it's a strip. If your not, hah, sorry. lol...

people dont understand what octane is!!! all octane does is lower the explosiveness of the fuel. higher compression engines, unlike the scion tc, have to run on higher octane fuel, thus if you wer boosted you would have to run a higher octane such as 89 or 93, but there is no reason why any stock tc should have any higher than 87 unless your just a complete @$$ and don know a damn thing about cars!
