Default Silly(GOOD) MPG with GFI

Need input from other GFI'ers

Just got back from visiting the in-laws for Christmas.

Took the exact same route as always and topped off the gas at the exact same stations as always.

From Las Vegas, NV to Gardena, CA ~ 290miles

1st trip - Bone stock, brand new tC - Very light traffic, coasted on Neutral for the downhill portions. - One Full Tank (light came on as we pulled up to their place)

Return Trip - Very Light traffic, Coasted on Downhills - a little less than one tank

2nd Trip with Umnitza CF Intake, no other performance mods - Very Light traffic, coasted on downhills - One and a Quarter Tank (Had to gas up around San Bernardino)

Return Trip - Very light traffic, Coasted Downhill, still used up over a tank of Gas

Recent Trip with GFI, no other performance mods - Light to moderate traffic, no coasting - Needle was between Half tank and 1/4th I didn't even use 3/4ths of a tank WTF ?!?!

Return trip - needle was at the 1/4th remaining mark (3/4ths used) after very heavy traffic (Mountain Fog) and several Stop and Go areas.

I usually cruise between 85-90 although this time, with the GFI, I was cruising at 90 at 4k RPM effortlessly with a LOT of Pull when I mash on the pedal.

What I want to know is:
Has anyone else with a GFI experienced a huge boost in fuel economy?
This just doesn't seem right to me, but hell, I'm not complaining.

If your foot weighed the same on every trip, more airflow = more fuel used, so your GFI must suck compared to the other one you had.

Sense no make you

I used LESS gas this trip with even more traffic

Let me simplify

Stock Intake - 1 full tank used

Umnitza Intake - 1 1/4th tank used

GFI - 3/4th of a tank used

Thanks for your opinion though, it was very well thought out

There's just something about the stock airbox that makes the flow around the MAF just about perfect.

That's probably what's doing it.
