Default Soon to be ew TC owner asking for help

First, I am a new to this. So bear with me if I make any mistakes I have read about in the posts. I am looking at buying a TC. I can order the supercharger. Is this worth it for the money? It’s rated at bringing it up to 210hp but how much does it kill the gas milage since the TC seems to have a low mileage rate already. Is the axle back Toyota exhaust actually a good idea for hp or is it more for sound? I’ve read about the alphawerks header. How much actual hp does this add? Sound isnt a huge issue in my area. Im going to get the manual obviously but ill wait on all the exterior mods. I guess what im looking for is help on what modifications are worth the money when it comes to performance. Or are some of the hp mods more for looks?

Hey welcome to the scion world. You're gonna love your tC. To answer all your questions, i recommend using the "search" button in red at the top of your screen. All your questions have been beat to death in these forums; so you will be able to find plenty of opinions on everything. Also, for what i can provide for ya; the supercharger power is still up in the air. It's like a myth now. TRD has been delaying the release for almost a year now. No official numbers have been released. As long as your not stuck on warranty issues (for certain engine components) make sure you research the turbo kits that are coming available. The most popular ones are the ZPI, Scionspeed, or Dezod kits. Do a search on those and you will find plenty. Hope this helps a lil bit.

if you want to have a potent little car with a decent amount of power and a nice fat warranty, get the supercharger.

if you want to go for all out power, get an aftermarket turbo kit but realize you lose your warranty and can't finance it into the car.

Thanks. Yes i know all my questions have been asked a thousand times before im sure. I apologize for that. The scion dealer said i could order the supercharger now if i wanted and have it with my car ready in 4 weeks. So it sounds like its not a myth. Although he did say that the 210hp number he couldn’t verify. I’m looking at all the links and things now.

With the turbo kits, ive read about the different kits. Some sound like too much for the Scions engine. How much is too much?

Be careful with what a dealer tells you. Just because the dealer says 4 weeks does not mean it will be 4 weeks. Until TRD/Toyota make an official press release I would not count on 4 weeks. Also with the HP numbers no one even knows if the HP numbers are wheel HP or crank HP. Personally I would not put any money down for the supercharger unless I was guaranteed a decent discount.

With the turbo kits, so far several tC's have been turbo'd 14+ psi and sounds as if our engines were almost built for boost (at least for the supercharger). The Scion Speed tC has gone over 400 HP with the stock motor and turbo (at about 17 psi). So our engines should be good around 250+ wheel HP.

The TRD exhaust is really for sound. It may add HP but it is not noticeable but the alphawerks adds much more HP and is definitely noticeable. I think the alphawerks gains are about 9-10 HP at max and decent increases overall. Pretty much all headers on the market right now are not for show but most exhausts are for show. The only exhausts that I know that add power I believe are the cat-back exhausts. Anyways good luck with your tC and hope you the best of luck in your travels with your future tC.
