Default Still Throwing a CEL with the Alphawerks header on my tC

Need some help on what to do next. I have tried the MMW CEL adaptor to fix the CEL from my alphawerks header. No luck with the MMW and it ran really poor .

So, I bought the spark plug adaptor which was recommended by a ton of people on here. I installed and used the OBD2 scanner and cleared the code. About 2 miutes later the CEL came back on .

I will say that the spark plug style adaptors are making the car run really good . Doesn't hesitate like the MMW adaptor made it.

I have no idea what to do to get the damn CEL to go away so I don't have to swap my header back to stock before emmissions???

I know about having to reflash when you do a S/C set up, but would that do anything for a Header?

I am at your mercy here.

Please help!!!!!!

Have you reset your ECU after all this changes?

Try this: https://www.scionlife.com/tech/?article=80, have you gotten the code read?, your sensor might be jacked up.

I was in the sam situation as you awhile back.

I had the spark plugs CEL fix but that didn't work, so i ended up buying the MMW CEL fix and that also didn't work either. I ran a CEL for about 3 months because I didn't have the time to fix it. Anyways it turns out my header A/F senors was broken. I replaced that and no more CEL! :D

the only way you can fix this and never worry about a cel is welding in a o2 bung on your midpipe behind the cat. Relocate your second o2 sensor there. You will have to extend the wires on the o2 sensor and if you do a good job you won't have any more problems with the cel.

Probably a dumb question, but you did install the antifouler (either mmw or spark plug one) on the o2 sensor in the S-Pipe right? Cause you don't want to touch the one in the header itself. Only reason I'm asking is that even for the people this mod failed on, it still took at least 50 miles or more for the cel to turn back on.

There are many ways of going about this. The easiest way and cheapest is to get 4 spark plug foulers. and screw them together. put them in the 2nd o2 spot and youll be good. I did it with my s/c'd tc and never had a problem since. let me know how is works out. Scott

Wow!!!!

Look at all the different fixes that have been recommended

I have talked to other people and they think it is the 02 sensor in the header that is bad since that is the code it is still throwing after trying both antifoulers. Also, how quick the CEL is popping back on.

The 1/4 thread the first 02 sensor in sounds sort of hackish to me. I appreciate the suggestion, but i want it to be secured all the way since my sensor isn't stripped. I wouldn't mind trying an antifouler in the first header bung, but not sure if that is okay to do???

The 4 antifoulers is interesting as well. I think the 4 anntifoulers will be as long as the MMW, which didn't work. Would there be a good reason why this would work besides that the sensor is farther away from the xhaust flow?

The move the second 02 sensor to the midpipe is a crazy amount of work!!! Not sure how this would fix the first 02 sensor??? Can you ellaborate?

Honestly, I think the sensor is shot. I am going to see what the return policy is at toyota and buy one, try it to see if it fixes it, and if it doesn't, return it the next day.

Try doing the 4 non foulers. trust me itll work if your sensor is working properly. My CEL was coming on every single day. then i did the 4 non foulers and worked great. Try it out and let me know. Scott

datalogging and many antifoulers later it doesn't work for some tc's and I even tried o2 sim. Relocate the sensor is a permanent fix

But relocating the sensor is telling the computer that you didn't delete a cat in your header?

Yes we are talking about the o2 sensor on the s-pipe and it makes the computer think that the cat in the header is still there.

I used two antifoulers in the s pipe for my AW headers. No CEL for 5000 miles and still going.

do you drive on the highway? Antifoulers work on some tc's not all for some reason.
