Default stock tranny capabilities

Like the title says. What is the stock tranny capable of? Has anyone blown a stock 5spd yet? What horsepower range are they good to etc?

really? I thought the axles were strong. O well thats not too bad tranny is obviously a bigger deal. The reason I was concerned is becuase of the price tag of tranny replacement. As far as I know there are not too many available in junk yards and the camry tranny is not the same (correct me if Im wrong) and a new one...yikes

I wouldn't say the axles are weak. The only time I heard of them breaking is with alot more power (turbo) in combination with a strong clutch and drag slicks. If you think about it, any car with that setup has a good chance of snapping axles. I've seen tons of sports cars with much stronger drivetrains snapping axles/gears at the track. When you merge high torque engines with strong traction, things are bound to break.

The tranny would be the last thing i would worry about. The Nitto tC puts down 500+ and all they did was upgrade the clutch. Also a friend of mine runs a drag tire setup with his scionspeed stage 3 kti almost every weekend at the track and has yet not had problems
