Default tC air pollution?

hey guys-
i'm new here and i'm thinkin about gettin a tC. i love this thing, but the only problem is the air pollution levels. go ahead and laugh at me and call me a tree hugger, but i value not having lung cancer so this is kinda important to me. why is the air pollution so bad? you would think that toyota would try to make a clean vehicle.

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/20647.shtml
(look under the "air pollution" title)

i was just wondering, are there any mods to make the air pollution less?

the tC is already a ULEV

Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle

Therers not much more you could do besides driving slower to reduce emissions.

Aside from riding a bike, there is nothing you can do.

Your lawn mower is worse for the air than the TC.

Not to knock that page, but they are way off on the MPG. I mean that says it gets a combined 26mpg on a stock tC. I have the supercharger on mine and I am getting 27-28mpg.

My point is, I am not sure their numbers are that accurate anyway. It is a great, fuel-efficient car. Other than getting a hybrid (which does not get the mpg they say it does), the tC is a great car.

Good luck in shopping.

yeah, i know that it's a ULEV, but i thought that only meant that the green house gas emissions were low. on that government website, it showed that air pollution was poor (a 2 on a 1 to 10 scale, 10 being best). i guess the government tests for air pollution were for particle emissions. i dunno how important it is that the particle emission be low, but i was under the impression that particle pollution is really unhealthy.

That's good to keep in mind...seems like the government can never be trusted

You have a higher chance of getting lung cancer from radioactive waste falling out of the space shuttle than you do from the tC. And if by some chance that does happen, you'll likely develop mutant powers first anyway, so it's win-win.

lol yea i know i know, i'm just trying to do anything i can do to slow pollution, it's sorta more a moral thing than thinking i'm actually making a huge difference...here in cleveland the pollution increase has been so great just in the last few years (cough since bush took office cough lol). I used to be able to take a nice walk downtown but now i seriously start coughing after being outside for awhile, and don't tell me that i'm getting out of shape

I actually saw a guy riding one of those the other day.

I have a term for devices like this: Natural Selection On Wheels.

This includes pocketbikes being driven on the street, gas-powered scooters, etc.

lol, *if* I had one of those (and I admit, they do look like fun...for 5 minutes), I'd paint those things chrome and add some spinners!
