Default tC gets so hot but needle doesnt pass center of temp gauge..

my friend's tC gets hot so fast. I mean, you turn the engine on with a cold start and you can just watch that needle go up to center of temp gauge. After driving the car gets so hot in the engine bay, so hot that i wouldnt hold onto the hood for more than 3 secs or so. But the temp gauge still doesnt pass the middle. People keeps on telling me that its okay as long as it stays in the middle and doesnt get any hotter. I'm just wondering if its okay to drive long distance when the engine gets hot fast like that. Is my engine going overheat and ____ up my engine? or is it okay to drive like that. help pleaseee. thanks.

have the temp sensor checked, the tc does get from cold to operating temp pretty quick, butstill a good idea to have it checked

yeah, could be something wrong with the thermostat. on a cold start in the morning, the no car can just turn on and warm up instantly to operating temperature. there has to be a problem somewhere with the cooling system.

the needle moves up little by little every like 5 secs or so. and the engine does get hot too. after like a 20 min drive or so it takes about 2 hours and a half or so for the needle to drop all the way down.

someone told me about an air bubble inside the radiator hose and i have to get rid of it so coolant can flow to the engine.

Sounds normal to me, but it also sounds like your buddy does not have the insulation on the hood. My engine bay gets hot, I have a header and no heatshield, but my hood stays warm. As long as the needle does not go up to the red its ok, it takes mine 2-3 min to get up to temp.

Is the OBX headers ceramic coated, to reduce heat?
