Some news... Well I have found someone that can port a tb for me... I'd say give me a a week or two and I'll post some pics up... Im hoping to put it on prior to installing my turbo so I can let you know if there is any notice in response...

Ive gotta talk to some welders I know to see if the can fab a manifold but Im sure they wont have a problem with it... Just need to get me a spare stock to base everything off of... Will keep you posted!!!

Im working on a 2az head. im doing a basic PnP/valve job. i would love to see what kind of gains it would get on a turbo tC...

When I get my head done... lol... I am going to go ahead and get oversize valves... Just seems like the way to go, instead of doing it twice...

i have a sheet metal intake in the works, and in a few months, i'm going to be looking into figuring out how to mak an accufab 75mm TB work with our cars. i'll keep every one posted, but its going to take some time to get everything fab'd up, and working properly.

Oh yea, on the manifold... I have found everything needed to make the manifold, and even better everything will be socket welded... I will know either tomorrow or tuesday on how much it would cost to fabricate... Materials are going to run around $350, so hoping labor won't be too much... But since it's friends, Im sure it wont be too bad... Maybe $20 and a case of beer... lol

hmm there was a thread i was reading a couple days ago about whether to rebuild or fix up the engine management.. i would rather use my money on a full AEM standalone and get a bomb ___ tune.. my .02 cents

yeah because with the full standalone you would have total control over the car and be able to be daily driven, with a full rebuild it's better to keep it a weekend car.. that's what i think..

Personally I tihnk its more impressive if you have a built engine, just because it takes more work, than sitting there and saying "yeah so and so put in a standalone and tuned it for me. thats what I think...

well it may be impressive, but reliability is what i'm looking for.. and a piggyback just won't do it for a built engine..

Very true, but in any case, people will always do what they want and what they think is best. Why not have both?

yes it would be ideal.. but as most of us are, we are scion owners.. meaning if we had the cash for a performance car we would've bought one.. haha as of right now it's one or the other!

Yea I am still stuck... As far as ease of installation, looking towards the standalone, just would need a tune as it will replace the ecu... A complete build, or even tb and manifold would require pulling the engine, sorta extreme for a daily driver... But sure would be nice to be able to push the boost envelope sometimes just to have some fun, you know?

yeah i was thinking that too, and include some nitrous.. but with a standalone you can safely do about 350-400, which i think is enough for a daily driver.. but if your looking to push past 400 then a built engine would be nice.. just imagine all of the burning gas..

Guys, if you are thinking of a custom IM, just remember of not doing the runners too short, (for high RPMs) and to make the plenum as an irregular shape to fight resonance and help with tuning (READ: easier to tune). You need to do it the right way, to work with the stock cams (READ: only thing available for now). Math is involve, remember that. About the TB. Well, the RX8 TB is 70mm and uses the same plug as the tC TB. You would need a spacer machined to convert the places of the bolts of the RX8 TB, longer nuts, and other misc things. It's been done, but not proven.

the rx8 and TC have the same plug on the throttle body???????? even if they do we would need to verify the wiring is the same, and if not, modify the harness to work, and also we would need to make sure the TB sends the same voltage (signal) as the TC.

It's been done... all that is needed are the things I mentioned, and a Kit was developed in Cali for this exact app. The guy does it locally now.
