Default Timing chain and water pump replacement

I'm an original owner of a 2006 TC. All the scheduled oil changes have been done and the car runs great. It has about 83,000 miles on it now and I'm wondering at what mileage I should consider having the timing chain replaced. I plan on some long distance trips come this spring and thought I should address the problem now. I had a chain break on an old 944 I had years ago and it wasn't pretty for my bank account. Thank you for any replies.

no need to change those at 83K.. nor at 100K unless you are experiencing problems that maybe related to that. If you are on top of your regular maintenance, vehicle is in stock/not modified form, toyota engine is very reliable over 100K

Thanks Ace. Car is bone stock and is still running very well. Are there any little signs that I can keep an eye on that might tell me it's time to think about replacing the chain and water pump. The water pump problem is usually obvious in other cars I've owned. Overheating, noise, or leaks. But what about the timing chain? Thanks again.

The timing chain is just that, a chain. Timing chains rarely need changed over the life of the vehicle. Timing belts on the other hand are a 100K mile change variant. And if something isn't broke, why fix it? I understand wanting to go on long drives, but these items will give you warning before going out. You'll be fine, just drive the car.

the water pump has a little "leak hole" on the side. if coolant is dried up around the hole, that would indicate its bad. other than that, the 2az is an EXTREMELY reliable motor. your car will disintegrate long before the timing chain needs to be replaced, if its stock.
