if you really really want to not have water sucked in, SRI.
But from those 2 choices, TRD does come w/ a bypass but works only when the filter is submerged a decent amount. You can get the same from AEM, but TRD has warranty if that matters to you.

no it doesn't. It is for "off road" use only. Also, the bypass valve is useless as it takes the entire filter being submerged to have the valve work. It only takes a really large puddle being hit the right way to blow your engine...

Injen is a good intake and based on the placement of the filter, its not that low to get submerged in water but if your afarid of water damage, Injen sell hydroshields. heres a pic.

I wouldn't get either! The only way you are gonna hydrolock is if you go through a puddle that is about 12 inches deep and you have the throttle open. Plus many companies offer a bypass valve so it achieves the same thing. Both the TRD and AEM are over priced and you will get better numbers with a different brand. I would suggest either Injen or Fugita!

wrong!

if you buy the TRD intake, and it is new in box (not opened or tampered with) and installed by a scion certified dealer. your warranty will be valid (5 year / 60k miles power train).

as others said, TRD is an AEM intake, its just re-badged for TRD and marked up in price. Typically an intake will NOT void your warranty. Its a judgment call if you want to install it or not. You wont see a big gain from it (though you will hear a deep growl from the engine). Also, hydrolocking scares people when it shouldn't. Unless you plan on driving through large puddles where the filter will be in the water, you will be fine (not the BPV is good to have for just in case)

The TRD CAI is an "off-road" or "racing' part and carries no warranty; some dealerships are misinforming owners. This is from the TRD website:

Race or Off-Highway Use Parts

Race or Off-Highway Use Parts have no warranty. Should any Race or Off-Highway Use Parts from this catalog prove defective following their purchase, the buyer and not the manufacturer distributor, dealer or retailer, shall assume the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repair of the defective part and of any damage that may have been caused by the defective part. The buyer assumes the entire risk as to the performance of such parts. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable federal, state, local or other law, TRD expressly disclaims the implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for a particular purpose, even if this catalog or any other materials mention a particular purpose for a Race or Off-Highway Use Part. TRD also disclaims all liability for direct, indirect; special, incidental or consequential damages, including, but not limited to, damage to or loss of personal property, loss of profits or revenue, cost of purchase of replacement goods, or claims of customers of the purchaser that result from the use of any and all Race or Off-Road Use Parts contained in this catalog.
There may be a warranty for the 2008 CAI (I don't know if it is for sale yet), which is NOT an "off-road" or "race" part, but ONLY if it is installed on a 2008 tC or xB.

http://trdusa.com/warranty.cfm

are you positive its not a sport part (refer to sports warranty)? a supercharger is consider a sports part, so i wouldnt understand why an intake wouldnt be considered the same. where exactly does it say what type of part it is? sport, or off-road / race?

In this case, since the 2005-07 CAI doesn't have CARB approval, they had to be listed as "off-road" parts to cover Toyota's butt when people fail visual inspections, unlike the S/C which is CARB approved thus carrying a "sport" warranty. You can find the CAI denoted as an "off-road" part in the TRD downloadable .pdf catalog (page 24), on TRD Sparks and McGeorge, and it should have documentation in the CAI packaging.
