Default TRD or K&N drop in filter

Does anyone have this in their car yet?

I'm just curious to know if it sounds anything like adding a ram/cai, and if it feels stronger or not (dyno's if you have it).

And for all the ppl that'll say "Do a search", I did, and found nothing but more questions.

Thx,
Leon

Ive been wondering the same thing. I have an Extra Corolla 2003 K&N dorp in filter which i know works on the TC. On my supercharged corolla Auto, putting the K&N drop in i got 8hp extra at the dyno, have no idea what the gains or sound would be on a tc. Now that i got the Injen axleback "very nice muffler" im thinking of dynoing the k&N drop in filter axhaust combo. If i do ill let you know hopefully the guys here at the forums have more answers. 05 TC 4 sp .

i actually have the trd drop in filter. it actually sounds pretty much like stock. horsepower gain is minimal, if any. increased throttle response. i bought it the filter mostly in part because my stock filter is needed replacing and the trd filter is reusable.

TRD and K&N filters are exactly the same. TRD uses the exact same fabric. I asked about 3 toyota/TRD dealers (online, dealer,TRD) and they all said the drop in filter is quite the same as K&N, they use K&N's fabric.

samething buddy.

get a CAI

i would use a cai but doing so will drop low end torque too much especially needed on an auto tranny. I learned this from ray one of the members here. I wont touch the intake im purchasing the supercharger anyway. As of now the injen exhaust has increased throttle response. sounds nice too.

i got the TRD filter, and removed the charcoal filter. the intake definately makes some noise.

as with any intake, increase in power is negligible.

So no sound difference and a minimal gain?

Well, I like the fact that it's reusable, but I might just wait for the AEM... dayum, they're taking long making it CARB legal!
